Template:Nihongo foot
Template documentation (view)
Usage
{{Nihongo foot|<english>|<kana or kanji>|<romaji>|<extra>}}
This template can be used to display Japanese words inline and is intended to be combined with Template:Note. Whereas Template:Nihongo is intended to be used within article prose, this template should be placed as a note next to an English title for a subject that is originally titled in Japanese.
This should not be used to display Japanese names in lead sections for anything other than physical and digital media, and merchandise. All other articles should only display Japanese names in the article's infobox and/or within Template:Foreignname in a "Names in other languages" section at the bottom of the article.
Only the first parameter is required, the remainder are optional. Unlike Template:Nihongo, this template does not support an English word as the first parameter, this is because the template is intended to be placed as a note next to English words.
- The first parameter is used to display the kana or kanji for the Japanese word, e.g. どうぶつの森
- The second parameter is used to display the transliteration of the Japanese word, e.g. Dōbutsu no Mori
- The third parameter can be used to display a direct English translation of the Japanese word if it differs from a localized word, e.g. Animal Forest
Example
{{Nihongo foot|どうぶつの森+|Dōbutsu no Mori+|Animal Forest+}}
Japanese: どうぶつの森+ Hepburn: Dōbutsu no Mori+, Animal Forest+
This template can be combined with Template:Note. Template:Note list must be placed on the article for the note to appear.
