Nintendo eShop
The Nintendo eShop is the online marketplace for the Nintendo Switch, and formerly for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The eShop succeeds the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii and the DSi Shop on the Nintendo DSi. The Nintendo 3DS version of the Nintendo eShop launched on June 6, 2011, with the Wii U and Nintendo Switch eShop launching on the same day as the console's release.
Several Animal Crossing games and pieces of software were exclusive to the eShop, including Photos with Animal Crossing on Nintendo 3DS, the Virtual Console release of Animal Crossing: Wild World on Wii U, and the now-discontinued Animal Crossing Plaza on Wii U. Additionally, Animal Crossing Calculator and Animal Crossing Clock, which were available on the DSi Shop prior to its closure, were available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. On February 15, 2022, Nintendo announced that the eShop on the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U will no longer accept purchases and new downloads after March 2023, after which it can only be used to re-download previously-installed software.[1] The Nintendo eShop for the 3DS and the Wii U was discontinued on March 27, 2023.
