Real-world information

A blue dasher

The Common Dragonfly or blue dasher as it is known in the real world is a species of skimmer dragonfly which is very common to North America and the Bahamas. Males and females of this species look very different from each other. Males are mostly blue with green eyes while females have banding on their tails as well as bright red eyes. The blue dasher gets its name from its habit of hunting prey, which is by sitting perfectly still and rapidly darting towards it when it becomes close enough.
