The Franklin NH Character Icon.pngJingle NH Character Icon.png 1.6.0 Winter Update (known in Australia as the 1.6.0 Free Update[1]) was an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on November 19, 2020. The update brought two returning holidays, the renamed Turkey Day and Toy Day, alongside their respective hosts Franklin and Jingle. Additional improvements, including increased storage capacity and new hairstyles were also added. It was announced on November 17, 2020.[2]

Returning features

• Harvest Festival has been renamed to Turkey Day in its return in 1.6.0, but the event is still hosted by Franklin as with New Leaf.
• Franklin will ask the player to fetch him ingredients that they can harvest from other villagers or by themselves to cook four dishes. The recipes differ for each players in every hemisphere. If these missions are fulfilled, Franklin will give the player a Turkey Day Rug, Turkey Day Wall, Turkey Day Flooring, and a Cornucopia, and if secret ingredients are taken for all four dishes, the player receives the Cozy Turkey Day DIY pack, with all the items in the Turkey Day Series.
• For Northern Hemisphere players, Turkey Day is taken as a celebration of the fall harvest, while for Southern Hemisphere players it is taken as a celebration of spring. This is reflected by every furniture outside of Resident Services and the Turkey Day Series being customized for their respective hemispheres.
• If the player misses Turkey Day, from after Turkey Day until November Nook's Cranny will sell the Cozy Turkey Day DIY pack for  19,800 Bells.
• This event is time-locked, and only unlocks on 1.6.0a.
• Toy Day, and its host Jingle, return in 1.6.0.
• In the days preceding Toy Day, Nook's Cranny will sell a random toy and Able Sisters will sell Festive-related clothing.
• On Toy Day itself, Jingle will be roaming around the island, and if talked to, will ask the player to assist him in delivering the presents. He asks the player to craft him x3 Festive Wrapping Paper, and then after rewarding the player Toy Day Stockings ask them to deliver the presents to the villagers with a Magic Bag. • Villagers will also do gift exchanges with the player, asking for wrapped presents in exchange for toys.
• In a first in the series, Toy Day has two variants of its composition. A festive, calming rendition for Toy Day in the Northern Hemisphere and a upbeat, vibrant rendition for Toy Day in the Southern Hemisphere.
• This event is time-locked, and only unlocks on 1.6.0b for the ready phases and 1.6.0c for the actual event.
• Luna can now send players to random dream islands as she did before in New Leaf. The option to activate this is "Surprise me".
