Server[edit]

I bought a server today at Timmy and Tommy's; the store was newly upgraded to the TIY Home Center. It was the first day it was open.

It is in the Sci-Fi series, pictured as http://moridb.com/items/furniture/server.

You may use any/all of this information to upgrade your site where appropriate and delete this submission. - unsigned comment from 2601:680:c702:91b0:5592:37fb:2297:815c (talkcontribs)

I think we mostly have complete info for the Sci-Fi Theme. Besides, what has this got to do with the upload policy? Drago (talk) DragoPicACNL.png 05:25, January 6, 2018 (EST)

Fair Use Questions[edit]

Are images from other Animal Crossing wikis, that are taken directly from the game, like sprites, considered fair use? Is Nookipedia okay with images being sourced for upload in this way? If so, should the outside wiki it was found on be credited, or does that not matter when it's taken right from the game anyway? Poppliopal (talk) 06:29, October 30, 2020 (EDT)

Yep, it's perfectly fine to upload images like that as long as you include the source (in this case, a link to the file page on the other wiki). Also, if you're referring to the Fandom wiki, they have a much more lenient policy on images than us, so I would make sure the image was directly taken from the game and is unmodified. As for fair use, other wikis do not have ownership of images like sprites, as they are owned by Nintendo, and they themselves are using them under fair use. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 10:33, October 30, 2020 (EDT)
Okay! It's good to know that about the policy differences, I will keep that in mind and look out for that. Poppliopal (talk) 11:04, October 30, 2020 (EDT)

Remove fields from default upload description[edit]

The majority support removing the optional fields from the default upload description. It has now been modified to only state the mandatory "description" and "source" fields. HylianAngel (talk) 23:17, July 17, 2022 (EDT)

Right now, our default upload description is the file info template with all parameters listed:

{{File Info
|description = Describe the file (THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL)
|source = Where you found the file (THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL)
|edits = Describe any edits made (if applicable)
|other-versions = Link to similar version(s) (if applicable)
|source-file-name = Name of the original source file (if applicable)
}}

Description and source are required and enforced via AbuseFilter. I'm proposing we remove the other fields (edits, other-versions, and source-file-name) to simplify the upload process; they're rarely used and we've had several editors leave those fields in as-is since it's not clear they need to be removed before upload. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:55, August 8, 2021 (EDT)

Support Support, given that these fields are optional and that most users don't seem to be removing them whenever they upload an image. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 19:22, August 8, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support - Sounds good to me! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 13:43, August 9, 2021 (EDT)
Comment Comment - Actually, thinking again about this, I think I would prefer leaving them, but adjusting the template so that if the default text is unchanged (e.g. "Describe any edits made (if applicable)") they do not display. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 11:49, November 7, 2021 (EST)
Support Support per above. Kalina (talk) Pikachu Sig Icon.png 12:27, November 7, 2021 (CET)

Fair use[edit]

Hi, I have a question

Is it under fair use if I use an image from the internet like youtube, in nookipedia?--ACNHelpr😊2435& (talk) 12:00, October 20, 2022 (EDT)

Fair Use[edit]

Is it under fair use if I use a photo of the game I took myself? Also does Nookipedia allow uploading files that aren't screenshots, but rather photos of the game from a device? PizzaPizza72 (talk) 15:38, September 13, 2023 (EDT)

Excus me..?[edit]

Personal file upload limit[edit]

I'm having some trouble understanding if the upload limit of 5 files still applies to AC related images for user pages. I know it says for "non-Animal Crossing related images", but I still figure I should ask since I've had some rough times with this same policy on another wiki. Tangy NH Villager Icon.pngKassie | Talk To Me!Tangy NH Villager Icon.png 22:31, November 26, 2024 (EST)

I'm not entirely sure myself and I agree the policy is unclear, but I'd say that if you're uploading an image that you're not planning to add to an article (and it isn't part of a work-in-progress article), then it would be a personal file since it wouldn't be in use anywhere other than your user page. Hope this helps! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:32, November 27, 2024 (EST)
