Problem
Hi, SuperHamster. There is a user called TrainerXY493 who has an account TrainerX493 (the user you gave trustee status to weeks ago). TrainerXY493 apparently got the password wrong and had to create a new account. I'm wondering if you can do anything about this, because TrainerXY493 wants to have the old account restored. Thanks.
Here is the original discussion: https://nookipedia.com/wiki/User_talk:Mario#That_is_me
Let me know if I posted this in the wrong spot. Thanks!
P.S. By the way, are we supposed to have redirects to templates? MarioTalk to-a me! 20:48, October 25, 2013 (EDT)
- Hey Mario! That's a shame...I don't think there is anything I could do. You'll have to talk to Jake about that, and see if he can do anything on the server-side of things. One thing I could see happening is merging the old account into the new one, so that all edits and contributions from TrainerX493 will be moved to TrainerXY493. As far as I'm aware, though, that extension is not enabled on Nookipedia. Jake may be able to look into that, though.
- As for the template redirects - typically, no, there shouldn't be redirects, but it's pretty much on a case-by-case basis. There can be reason to have template redirects, though that's not common. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it! Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 00:34, October 26, 2013 (EDT)
Trivia sections
Hey, SuperHamster, I was thinking about how to deal with Trivia sections. I'm tempted to write something about trivia sections in article formatting, the rules and standards for them. For instance, our articles shouldn't have long trivia sections and if trivia can be incorporated into the main article, it should. I'm also planning a notice template for articles with overly long trivia sections. However, I can't do this without a small discussion, so maybe you can give some of your thoughts about this? Thanks for reading. MarioTalk to-a me! 15:07, October 29, 2013 (EDT)
- Those all sound like good points to me! Trivia sections can definitely be valid and useful, though should be used only with good reason (since most things should be able to be incorporated into the article prose itself). If you'd like more input, I'd recommend making a thread on the forums to get a discussion going. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 17:04, October 29, 2013 (EDT)
Redirecting to External Sites?
Hey Kevin, I have a question. Is it possible to redirect a page on the wiki to an external site? (Like the forum for example?) Thanks for your help in advance! -mlnintendo97 18:23, November 11, 2013 (EST)
- Nope - and it's a good thing, too. That could potentially be a pretty bad security flaw, as users could automatically redirect users to a harmful site. You'd have to simply create a page with a link :) ~SuperHamster Talk 18:27, November 11, 2013 (EST)
- Thanks for your help! I was just curious as I wanted to redirect a few pages to the forum. Thanks again! ;) -mlnintendo97 18:36, November 11, 2013 (EST)
Vandalism
There is recent vandalism (the vandal has also created an awful page). May you please remove revision history of that page (and hide its name)? The Grams article has also been vandalized, and no one should see that revision also. Thanks. MarioTalk to-a me! 14:33, November 24, 2013 (EST)
- Done! Thanks for the heads up. I tried my best, but I'm not sure if I can remove the title of the page itself from the deletion log, which is kind of unfortunate. Unless I'm missing something. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 15:04, November 24, 2013 (EST)
- You're welcome. I was wondering if you can remove the title because I thought admins in MarioWiki did that. Anyway, though, thanks for the help! MarioTalk to-a me! 18:12, November 24, 2013 (EST)
Block template
I'm wondering about the last sentence in the {{BlockWarning}} template, specifically this one: "You may remove this notice after you have finished reading it.". Shouldn't users be discouraged from removing warning templates so staff members have an easier time to view user's editing history? I don't get how informal comments are not allowed to be removed while official warning templates are free to be removed. Maybe we should change this? Just a suggestion. MarioTalk to-a me! 17:39, December 11, 2013 (EST)
- Good question :) I'm honestly not sure why we have that in the template, and don't remember why it was added by Jake back in 2011. I feel like the community's view on talk pages has changed since then, in addition to having the problem that we don't have a concrete policy regarding users managing their talk pages in the first place.
- If I had to explain the original reasoning behind it though, I'd point you towards Wikipedia's policy on this. On Wikipedia, user talk pages can be managed however a user wants, as undesirable as removing and ignoring warnings may be. Clearly there's a conflict with this view on the wiki, though.
- I would definitely support removing that bit from the template - I don't see why it needs to be mentioned that the warning can be removed. As to whether or not users should be able to remove warning messages in the first place, that's up for debate - I'm thinking we open up a quick discussion on the forums to come up with a concrete policy regarding users and their talk pages? ~SuperHamster Talk 00:00, December 12, 2013 (EST)
- Ok, I'll remove that bit.
- We're supposed to assume that users remove it because they understand what is going on and don't need the template up like that. We here, however, assume that users shoo away, ignore, or try to hide the problem (shouldn't we assume good faith, though?) by removing the template... I don't know how much discussion this will lead to, but we can ask other staff of their opinion on this. MarioTalk to-a me! 01:09, December 13, 2013 (EST)
- A bit delayed, but I made a thread over on the forum. Thanks =) ~SuperHamster Talk 16:51, December 19, 2013 (EST)

My problem
Hi there!
I just joined the wiki today, because I was hoping to make some good friends here! I also joined the wiki because I wanted to share friend codes with people on animal crossing city folk! I don't have anyone to play with, so I would really appreciate it, if someone would like to play city folk with me!
--Nookandgo (talk) 13:47, January 6, 2014 (EST)
- Hey, and welcome to the wiki! I'm not currently playing City Folk :( If you'd like to find friends to play with here, I'd recommend heading to our forums and visiting the Wild World / City Folk section. Hopefully you can find others to play with here. Most players have been busy with New Leaf though.
- If you need anything else, let me know! Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 15:15, January 6, 2014 (EST)
Vandalism by Jman24274
Jman24274 broke Template:! and vandalized your user page. I undid both edits. Just letting you know in case you need to block them. Mooninaut (talk) 23:09, January 15, 2014 (EST)
Check I.P.
I think it would make sense if users with administrator tools also had the ability to check I.P. addresses just to make sure vandals create separate account or vandalize under an IP. It wouldn't make sense that I can block users, but can't check their I.P. addresses, no? MarioTalk to-a me! 22:29, February 19, 2014 (EST)
- I agree that it could be a useful tool for admins, but it's limited on purpose. CheckUser is our most sensitive tool, since it allows its users to see a user's private IP addresses, among other things. Users trust the site to protect their private data, and users' privacy is something we have to be protective of. The more editors that have CheckUser rights, the more open to abuse it will be.
- On that note, CheckUser should only be used when there is a good suspicion that a user has been abusing multiple accounts (if you're in the US, think of it like the police needing probable cause before searching somebody). Even on Wikipedia, with its thousands of editors and over a thousand admins, only a select few dozen editors have access to the CheckUser tools.
- On that note, if you ever have the suspicion that someone is abusing multiple accounts, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll get on it ASAP :) Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 23:15, February 19, 2014 (EST)
- I was wondering this because there is one I.P. that was blanking the page from a recently blocked user (Skylordg), blocked for blanking pages. There was another account I blocked recently that has also done the same thing, so that made me suspicious. MarioTalk to-a me! 17:48, February 20, 2014 (EST)

New account
Hello. I briefly edited from the J991 account, but I forgot the password a long time ago. So I was forced to create a new account, if that's okay. You may ban/block the old account if that's the procedure you follow here. Thanks. Red Snapper 15:07, March 7, 2014 (EST)
- Hey! That's totally fine, thanks for the heads up. I'll leave the account as-is, unless you want it blocked. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 22:23, March 7, 2014 (EST)
Nookipedia's status
SuperHamster, I haven't edited here in a long time! It's great to see everything is going well around here. I was wondering if there were any important things that I could edit for this wiki since I have lost track of all my progress since I last edited. Thank you. --Wookiee123 (talk) 00:50, March 17, 2014 (EDT)
- Hey, welcome back! :) No big projects in particular (like the villager list)is being worked on at the moment. Things I've been meaning to get to myself, though, are completing the update of our season pages for New Leaf (autumn, winter, etc. - some of them should already be updated), and also our Island Tour page. If you wanna try tackling those, feel free to (and if not, that's cool)! Those are the two things I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more bits and pieces that still need updating. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:55, March 17, 2014 (EDT)
Block Template
Is it all right if I go ahead and add the block template to mlnintendo97's talk page? There may be some users scratching their heads to why the user has no talk page nor user page, yet they see him as a wiki user trusted with tools. I want to prevent possible confusion. MarioTalk to-a me! 13:18, March 20, 2014 (EDT)
- Yes, definitely a good idea - feel free to do the same for any other editors you think the template would be appropriate for. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 16:44, March 20, 2014 (EDT)
Multiple Uploads is down
Could you please explain why Multiple Uploads isn't working? Is it under maintenance? It's a bit tedious uploading files one at a time. Red Snapper 13:57, March 30, 2014 (EDT)
- Yeah... the page link isn't working. Don't worry, Red Snapper, I have never used Multiple Uploads because I just don't have use for it... hang on. MarioHi-jacked by Bullet Bills... 15:45, March 30, 2014 (EDT)
Re: Staff
I was interested until today, but I've withdrawn the application now so you may as well either archive it or rollback my edits on the NP:Staff/Apply page. Red Snapper 15:35, April 7, 2014 (EDT)
- Aw, all right! I've gone ahead and archived it. Feel free to re-apply any time. Thanks for the heads up, ~SuperHamster Talk 16:26, April 7, 2014 (EDT)
Bulletin Board trouble
I get this message: "This domain has expired. If you owned this domain, contact your domain registration service provider for further assistance. If you need help identifying your provider, visit http://tucowsdomains.com." Red Snapper 05:41, April 11, 2014 (EDT)
- Ah, dang. Thanks for the heads up - I've let Jake know about it, should hopefully be back up in due time. ~SuperHamster Talk 08:22, April 11, 2014 (EDT)
Request
Can you please RevDel the 'username' part of this edit? [1]? It took me so long to add the bug and fish lists that I got logged out, and it's not a good idea to reveal you IP according to a certain policy page. Oh, and logging in again to save the edit doesn't work for me either (I would've lost the whole edit). Thanks for your co-operation. Red Snapper 06:49, April 12, 2014 (EDT)
- Done! In the future, you can always copy the edit to your clipboard, log in, and then paste the edit back into the edit box. If you happen to use Google Chrome or Firefox, I also recommend Lazarus. It's a free extension that saves all form data in case you lose it. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:18, April 12, 2014 (EDT)
Nookipedia:
Would this Template be good on the Nookipedia: pages? Also if yes, could you add it to the main page. - unsigned comment from Pokebub (talk • contribs)
- Hey! Nice job on the template. I think it'd be a great addition to the Nookipedia namescape. I've gone ahead and updating the template to match the styling of the rest of our navigation templates. As for adding it to the main page, navigation boxes don't really belong on there. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 11:24, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
- Somehow, I don't think the 'Archive' section is needed; the links are duplicates of the ones in the section above. Red Snapper 11:48, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
- I'm probably going to remove it unless it's a mistake or something. MarioTalk to-a me! 13:29, April 15, 2014 (EDT)

Email trouble
Why is my confirmation e-mail not arriving? I'm positive that I entered the correct e-mail address and didn't make a mistake? It seems to be a problem across the whole of NIWA. Red Snapper 11:15, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
- Hey Red - have you tried checking your email's spam folder? Let me know if you don't find the email in there. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:25, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
- There is no spam folder. Spam was automatically filtered out, but I tried disabling that and the e-mails still aren't arriving. Red Snapper 11:48, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
- Hmm...confirmation emails are working in general, so it must be something to do with the particular email domain you're using. If you've disabled your spam filter and still haven't received a confirmation email after re-sending the email from your preferences page, I'm not sure much can be done other than using an alternative email address :/ If you decide to do that, you can always set up email forwarding so that any emails sent to your alternative address are automatically forwarded to your other email address. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:58, April 15, 2014 (EDT)

Patroller
I resign... Red Snapper 14:03, June 8, 2014 (EDT)
- Aww, all right :( That's a sudden surprise! You made good use of your Patroller tools, so I thank you for that. If you ever want to talk about anything, in private or not, just let me know. Hope you'll still stick around! ~SuperHamster Talk 14:24, June 8, 2014 (EDT)
Page creation
Should we leave page creation to autoconfirmed users? Just a question... ™ 22:47, June 12, 2014 (EDT)
- That...would be a good idea, especially since there aren't many pages left to create, if any. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's something Jake would have to handle, correct?
- In the meantime, the bulk of vandalism seems to come from a particular IP range, so I'll work on a rangeblock for that. Should hopefully deter them. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:16, June 13, 2014 (EDT)
- Did the rangeblock; also noticed that the IP range was the same as the one I blocked back in both April and May. Whoever that particular person is, they are persistent. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:19, June 13, 2014 (EDT)
- Perhaps, but I was asking if it's feasible or a good idea. I don't know why a user would want to go to a small, niche, open-to-editing wiki just to vandalize. There really isn't anything to gain. ™ 23:53, June 21, 2014 (EDT)
It is me Wolfgang
Hello SuperHamster,
Haven't talked to you since a long time. How are you? Sorry for the sudden disappearance, it was simply because of my final exams, A levels. Anyway, how are things in the wiki? How can I help you guys? Is there a specific category you need my help in?
BTW, about the chat, it won't work for me. But, I can access it through a different program, but I need the channel name. Can you give it anytime later?
Thank you, Wolfgang (talk) 04:55, June 28, 2014 (EDT)
- No problem, glad you're back! I've been fine, how have you been?
- Wiki is doing all right, it's been smooth sailing as summer rolls around. Lots of random tasks to do...still have to update some pages for New Leaf (holidays, events, mini-games, furniture lists, etc.), mostly. As for the chat, are you talking about the chat in the forums? That's been broken for a while, so even if you do get access to it, you won't find anyone else - sorry! ~SuperHamster Talk 16:12, June 28, 2014 (EDT)

Image Problems
Hello SuperHamster,
Sorry about troubling you with the licensing of my images and even the category thing, it seems like I wasted your time with my mistakes. I hope I can be a better editor soon.
Thank you, Wolfgang (talk) 06:42, July 13, 2014 (EDT)
- Hey, no problem! We don't have a complete category system up yet for images, so I wasn't expecting anyone to really know about them. Awesome contributions so far :) ~SuperHamster Talk 14:42, July 13, 2014 (EDT)
Username formatting
Is it possible to make the first character in my username lowercase? It seems that all usernames are auto-formatted to start with a capital letter but I prefer mine otherwise. --Sunmarsh (talk)
- Hi there - unfortunately not. Usernames always start with a capital letter. However, you may make your username appear lowercased at the top of your userpage by placing
{{DISPLAYTITLE:User:sunmarsh}}
. You can also edit your signature at your preferences page so that your username is stylized however you like. On a side note, welcome to Nookipedia! ~SuperHamster Talk 18:13, July 14, 2014 (EDT)
Image Licensing
Sorry I've been forgetting to add this... maybe it should be made into a required field? Also is there any way to add the appropriate license post-upload? --sunmarsh (talk) 13:44, July 16, 2014 (EDT)
- No problem! We can definitely consider making it a require field, though I think that's something our server manager will have to take care of (and he's been inactive as of late). As for adding a license post-upload, you can just edit the page and add the license as I have done. You can find all our licensing templates at Category:Licensing Templates. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 13:47, July 16, 2014 (EDT)
- Since you're more active than our current server manager, are you planning on eventually taking over the server? Red Snapper 12:32, July 17, 2014 (EDT)
- Eh, it's not my place to plan on it ;P I believe Jake will always be the server guy, since he physically owns and works with the server itself. We did discuss giving me greater access to the server files and whatnot last year, though. I'll see if we can get that going sometime soon. ~SuperHamster Talk 13:03, July 17, 2014 (EDT)
