Problem

Hi, SuperHamster. There is a user called TrainerXY493 who has an account TrainerX493 (the user you gave trustee status to weeks ago). TrainerXY493 apparently got the password wrong and had to create a new account. I'm wondering if you can do anything about this, because TrainerXY493 wants to have the old account restored. Thanks.

Here is the original discussion: https://nookipedia.com/wiki/User_talk:Mario#That_is_me

Let me know if I posted this in the wrong spot. Thanks!

P.S. By the way, are we supposed to have redirects to templates? Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 20:48, October 25, 2013 (EDT)

Hey Mario! That's a shame...I don't think there is anything I could do. You'll have to talk to Jake about that, and see if he can do anything on the server-side of things. One thing I could see happening is merging the old account into the new one, so that all edits and contributions from TrainerX493 will be moved to TrainerXY493. As far as I'm aware, though, that extension is not enabled on Nookipedia. Jake may be able to look into that, though.
As for the template redirects - typically, no, there shouldn't be redirects, but it's pretty much on a case-by-case basis. There can be reason to have template redirects, though that's not common. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it! Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 00:34, October 26, 2013 (EDT)

Trivia sections

Hey, SuperHamster, I was thinking about how to deal with Trivia sections. I'm tempted to write something about trivia sections in article formatting, the rules and standards for them. For instance, our articles shouldn't have long trivia sections and if trivia can be incorporated into the main article, it should. I'm also planning a notice template for articles with overly long trivia sections. However, I can't do this without a small discussion, so maybe you can give some of your thoughts about this? Thanks for reading. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 15:07, October 29, 2013 (EDT)

Those all sound like good points to me! Trivia sections can definitely be valid and useful, though should be used only with good reason (since most things should be able to be incorporated into the article prose itself). If you'd like more input, I'd recommend making a thread on the forums to get a discussion going. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 17:04, October 29, 2013 (EDT)

Redirecting to External Sites?

Hey Kevin, I have a question. Is it possible to redirect a page on the wiki to an external site? (Like the forum for example?) Thanks for your help in advance! -mlnintendo97 18:23, November 11, 2013 (EST)

Nope - and it's a good thing, too. That could potentially be a pretty bad security flaw, as users could automatically redirect users to a harmful site. You'd have to simply create a page with a link :) ~SuperHamster Talk 18:27, November 11, 2013 (EST)
Thanks for your help! I was just curious as I wanted to redirect a few pages to the forum. Thanks again! ;) -mlnintendo97 18:36, November 11, 2013 (EST)

Vandalism

There is recent vandalism (the vandal has also created an awful page). May you please remove revision history of that page (and hide its name)? The Grams article has also been vandalized, and no one should see that revision also. Thanks. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 14:33, November 24, 2013 (EST)

Done! Thanks for the heads up. I tried my best, but I'm not sure if I can remove the title of the page itself from the deletion log, which is kind of unfortunate. Unless I'm missing something. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 15:04, November 24, 2013 (EST)
You're welcome. I was wondering if you can remove the title because I thought admins in MarioWiki did that. Anyway, though, thanks for the help! Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 18:12, November 24, 2013 (EST)

Block template

I'm wondering about the last sentence in the {{BlockWarning}} template, specifically this one: "You may remove this notice after you have finished reading it.". Shouldn't users be discouraged from removing warning templates so staff members have an easier time to view user's editing history? I don't get how informal comments are not allowed to be removed while official warning templates are free to be removed. Maybe we should change this? Just a suggestion. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 17:39, December 11, 2013 (EST)

Good question :) I'm honestly not sure why we have that in the template, and don't remember why it was added by Jake back in 2011. I feel like the community's view on talk pages has changed since then, in addition to having the problem that we don't have a concrete policy regarding users managing their talk pages in the first place.
If I had to explain the original reasoning behind it though, I'd point you towards Wikipedia's policy on this. On Wikipedia, user talk pages can be managed however a user wants, as undesirable as removing and ignoring warnings may be. Clearly there's a conflict with this view on the wiki, though.
I would definitely support removing that bit from the template - I don't see why it needs to be mentioned that the warning can be removed. As to whether or not users should be able to remove warning messages in the first place, that's up for debate - I'm thinking we open up a quick discussion on the forums to come up with a concrete policy regarding users and their talk pages? ~SuperHamster Talk 00:00, December 12, 2013 (EST)
Ok, I'll remove that bit.
We're supposed to assume that users remove it because they understand what is going on and don't need the template up like that. We here, however, assume that users shoo away, ignore, or try to hide the problem (shouldn't we assume good faith, though?) by removing the template... I don't know how much discussion this will lead to, but we can ask other staff of their opinion on this. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 01:09, December 13, 2013 (EST)
A bit delayed, but I made a thread over on the forum. Thanks =) ~SuperHamster Talk 16:51, December 19, 2013 (EST)
And I posted. :) Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 17:07, December 19, 2013 (EST)

My problem

Hi there!

I just joined the wiki today, because I was hoping to make some good friends here! I also joined the wiki because I wanted to share friend codes with people on animal crossing city folk! I don't have anyone to play with, so I would really appreciate it, if someone would like to play city folk with me!

--Nookandgo (talk) 13:47, January 6, 2014 (EST)

Hey, and welcome to the wiki! I'm not currently playing City Folk :( If you'd like to find friends to play with here, I'd recommend heading to our forums and visiting the Wild World / City Folk section. Hopefully you can find others to play with here. Most players have been busy with New Leaf though.
If you need anything else, let me know! Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 15:15, January 6, 2014 (EST)

Vandalism by Jman24274

Jman24274 broke Template:! and vandalized your user page. I undid both edits. Just letting you know in case you need to block them. Mooninaut (talk) 23:09, January 15, 2014 (EST)

Blocked - thanks for the heads up! ~SuperHamster Talk 23:10, January 15, 2014 (EST)

Check I.P.

I think it would make sense if users with administrator tools also had the ability to check I.P. addresses just to make sure vandals create separate account or vandalize under an IP. It wouldn't make sense that I can block users, but can't check their I.P. addresses, no? Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 22:29, February 19, 2014 (EST)

I agree that it could be a useful tool for admins, but it's limited on purpose. CheckUser is our most sensitive tool, since it allows its users to see a user's private IP addresses, among other things. Users trust the site to protect their private data, and users' privacy is something we have to be protective of. The more editors that have CheckUser rights, the more open to abuse it will be.
On that note, CheckUser should only be used when there is a good suspicion that a user has been abusing multiple accounts (if you're in the US, think of it like the police needing probable cause before searching somebody). Even on Wikipedia, with its thousands of editors and over a thousand admins, only a select few dozen editors have access to the CheckUser tools.
On that note, if you ever have the suspicion that someone is abusing multiple accounts, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll get on it ASAP :) Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 23:15, February 19, 2014 (EST)
I was wondering this because there is one I.P. that was blanking the page from a recently blocked user (Skylordg), blocked for blanking pages. There was another account I blocked recently that has also done the same thing, so that made me suspicious. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 17:48, February 20, 2014 (EST)
Sent you a message on the forums :) ~SuperHamster Talk 18:21, February 24, 2014 (EST)

Username

I dont know what username I want I will decide by tomorrow !

New account

Hello. I briefly edited from the J991 account, but I forgot the password a long time ago. So I was forced to create a new account, if that's okay. You may ban/block the old account if that's the procedure you follow here. Thanks. Red Snapper 15:07, March 7, 2014 (EST)

Hey! That's totally fine, thanks for the heads up. I'll leave the account as-is, unless you want it blocked. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 22:23, March 7, 2014 (EST)
Probably better to leave it as it is, because I don't think anyone will want to hack into the account anyway. Red Snapper 08:20, March 8, 2014 (EST)

Nookipedia's status

SuperHamster, I haven't edited here in a long time! It's great to see everything is going well around here. I was wondering if there were any important things that I could edit for this wiki since I have lost track of all my progress since I last edited. Thank you. --Wookiee123 (talk) 00:50, March 17, 2014 (EDT)

Hey, welcome back! :) No big projects in particular (like the villager list)is being worked on at the moment. Things I've been meaning to get to myself, though, are completing the update of our season pages for New Leaf (autumn, winter, etc. - some of them should already be updated), and also our Island Tour page. If you wanna try tackling those, feel free to (and if not, that's cool)! Those are the two things I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more bits and pieces that still need updating. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:55, March 17, 2014 (EDT)

Block Template

Is it all right if I go ahead and add the block template to mlnintendo97's talk page? There may be some users scratching their heads to why the user has no talk page nor user page, yet they see him as a wiki user trusted with tools. I want to prevent possible confusion. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 13:18, March 20, 2014 (EDT)

Yes, definitely a good idea - feel free to do the same for any other editors you think the template would be appropriate for. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 16:44, March 20, 2014 (EDT)

Multiple Uploads is down

Could you please explain why Multiple Uploads isn't working? Is it under maintenance? It's a bit tedious uploading files one at a time. Red Snapper 13:57, March 30, 2014 (EDT)

Yeah... the page link isn't working. Don't worry, Red Snapper, I have never used Multiple Uploads because I just don't have use for it... hang on. Mario Sigpic.png MarioHi-jacked by Bullet Bills... 15:45, March 30, 2014 (EDT)
Hey Red - the page hasn't been working for a while :( Something about it being out of date. It's been meant to be fixed for a while, but I don't think Jake has had the chance to look into it. I'll shoot him a message to see what can be done. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk 18:30, March 30, 2014 (EDT)

Re: Staff

I was interested until today, but I've withdrawn the application now so you may as well either archive it or rollback my edits on the NP:Staff/Apply page. Red Snapper 15:35, April 7, 2014 (EDT)

Aw, all right! I've gone ahead and archived it. Feel free to re-apply any time. Thanks for the heads up, ~SuperHamster Talk 16:26, April 7, 2014 (EDT)

Bulletin Board trouble

I get this message: "This domain has expired. If you owned this domain, contact your domain registration service provider for further assistance. If you need help identifying your provider, visit http://tucowsdomains.com." Red Snapper 05:41, April 11, 2014 (EDT)

Ah, dang. Thanks for the heads up - I've let Jake know about it, should hopefully be back up in due time. ~SuperHamster Talk 08:22, April 11, 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, I doesn't really affect us much, but if it doesn't get reported it'll be left for months otherwise...Red Snapper 08:30, April 11, 2014 (EDT)
Haha, not really. I check the forum once a day anyway ;) ~SuperHamster Talk 10:01, April 11, 2014 (EDT)

Request

Can you please RevDel the 'username' part of this edit? [1]? It took me so long to add the bug and fish lists that I got logged out, and it's not a good idea to reveal you IP according to a certain policy page. Oh, and logging in again to save the edit doesn't work for me either (I would've lost the whole edit). Thanks for your co-operation. Red Snapper 06:49, April 12, 2014 (EDT)

Done! In the future, you can always copy the edit to your clipboard, log in, and then paste the edit back into the edit box. If you happen to use Google Chrome or Firefox, I also recommend Lazarus. It's a free extension that saves all form data in case you lose it. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:18, April 12, 2014 (EDT)

Nookipedia:

Would this Template be good on the Nookipedia: pages? Also if yes, could you add it to the main page. - unsigned comment from Pokebub (talkcontribs)

Hey! Nice job on the template. I think it'd be a great addition to the Nookipedia namescape. I've gone ahead and updating the template to match the styling of the rest of our navigation templates. As for adding it to the main page, navigation boxes don't really belong on there. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 11:24, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
Somehow, I don't think the 'Archive' section is needed; the links are duplicates of the ones in the section above. Red Snapper 11:48, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
I'm probably going to remove it unless it's a mistake or something. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 13:29, April 15, 2014 (EDT)

Email trouble

Why is my confirmation e-mail not arriving? I'm positive that I entered the correct e-mail address and didn't make a mistake? It seems to be a problem across the whole of NIWA. Red Snapper 11:15, April 15, 2014 (EDT)

Hey Red - have you tried checking your email's spam folder? Let me know if you don't find the email in there. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:25, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
There is no spam folder. Spam was automatically filtered out, but I tried disabling that and the e-mails still aren't arriving. Red Snapper 11:48, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
Hmm...confirmation emails are working in general, so it must be something to do with the particular email domain you're using. If you've disabled your spam filter and still haven't received a confirmation email after re-sending the email from your preferences page, I'm not sure much can be done other than using an alternative email address :/ If you decide to do that, you can always set up email forwarding so that any emails sent to your alternative address are automatically forwarded to your other email address. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:58, April 15, 2014 (EDT)
I've managed to get the spam folder to appear now, but it's only a 'daily' report so I'll let you know if anything's happened in 24 hours' time. Red Snapper 15:38, April 15, 2014 (EDT)

Patroller

I resign... Red Snapper 14:03, June 8, 2014 (EDT)

Aww, all right :( That's a sudden surprise! You made good use of your Patroller tools, so I thank you for that. If you ever want to talk about anything, in private or not, just let me know. Hope you'll still stick around! ~SuperHamster Talk 14:24, June 8, 2014 (EDT)

Page creation

Should we leave page creation to autoconfirmed users? Just a question... Mario Signature.png 22:47, June 12, 2014 (EDT)

That...would be a good idea, especially since there aren't many pages left to create, if any. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's something Jake would have to handle, correct?
In the meantime, the bulk of vandalism seems to come from a particular IP range, so I'll work on a rangeblock for that. Should hopefully deter them. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:16, June 13, 2014 (EDT)
Did the rangeblock; also noticed that the IP range was the same as the one I blocked back in both April and May. Whoever that particular person is, they are persistent. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:19, June 13, 2014 (EDT)
Perhaps, but I was asking if it's feasible or a good idea. I don't know why a user would want to go to a small, niche, open-to-editing wiki just to vandalize. There really isn't anything to gain. Mario Signature.png 23:53, June 21, 2014 (EDT)

It is me Wolfgang

Hello SuperHamster,

Haven't talked to you since a long time. How are you? Sorry for the sudden disappearance, it was simply because of my final exams, A levels. Anyway, how are things in the wiki? How can I help you guys? Is there a specific category you need my help in?

BTW, about the chat, it won't work for me. But, I can access it through a different program, but I need the channel name. Can you give it anytime later?

Thank you, Wolfgang (talk) 04:55, June 28, 2014 (EDT)

No problem, glad you're back! I've been fine, how have you been?
Wiki is doing all right, it's been smooth sailing as summer rolls around. Lots of random tasks to do...still have to update some pages for New Leaf (holidays, events, mini-games, furniture lists, etc.), mostly. As for the chat, are you talking about the chat in the forums? That's been broken for a while, so even if you do get access to it, you won't find anyone else - sorry! ~SuperHamster Talk 16:12, June 28, 2014 (EDT)

Page to be deleted

Hello,

Please delete this page, here. An anonymous user created it and it is simply meaningless.

Thank you, Wolfgang (talk) 09:30, July 3, 2014 (EDT)

Done, thanks. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:31, July 3, 2014 (EDT)

Image Problems

Hello SuperHamster,

Sorry about troubling you with the licensing of my images and even the category thing, it seems like I wasted your time with my mistakes. I hope I can be a better editor soon.

Thank you, Wolfgang (talk) 06:42, July 13, 2014 (EDT)

Hey, no problem! We don't have a complete category system up yet for images, so I wasn't expecting anyone to really know about them. Awesome contributions so far :) ~SuperHamster Talk 14:42, July 13, 2014 (EDT)

Username formatting

Is it possible to make the first character in my username lowercase? It seems that all usernames are auto-formatted to start with a capital letter but I prefer mine otherwise. --Sunmarsh (talk)

Hi there - unfortunately not. Usernames always start with a capital letter. However, you may make your username appear lowercased at the top of your userpage by placing {{DISPLAYTITLE:User:sunmarsh}}. You can also edit your signature at your preferences page so that your username is stylized however you like. On a side note, welcome to Nookipedia! ~SuperHamster Talk 18:13, July 14, 2014 (EDT)
I appreciate your prompt reply, thanks so much! :D Sunmarsh (talk) 18:26, July 14, 2014 (EDT)

Image Licensing

Sorry I've been forgetting to add this... maybe it should be made into a required field? Also is there any way to add the appropriate license post-upload? --sunmarsh (talk) 13:44, July 16, 2014 (EDT)

No problem! We can definitely consider making it a require field, though I think that's something our server manager will have to take care of (and he's been inactive as of late). As for adding a license post-upload, you can just edit the page and add the license as I have done. You can find all our licensing templates at Category:Licensing Templates. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 13:47, July 16, 2014 (EDT)
Since you're more active than our current server manager, are you planning on eventually taking over the server? Red Snapper 12:32, July 17, 2014 (EDT)
Eh, it's not my place to plan on it ;P I believe Jake will always be the server guy, since he physically owns and works with the server itself. We did discuss giving me greater access to the server files and whatnot last year, though. I'll see if we can get that going sometime soon. ~SuperHamster Talk 13:03, July 17, 2014 (EDT)

Hi

Could you rename me to "Baby Luigi"? I lost my password...and my sis already told you about it. Please? -BabyLuigi PiT sprite.pngBaby Luigi(Talk to me?)

Done. Be sure to enter an email into your preferences, in case you do forget your password again :) ~SuperHamster Talk 17:02, July 27, 2014 (EDT)
Thanks. Oh I'm way ahead of you: I made sure I have a valid email and confirmed it :p -BabyLuigi PiT sprite.pngBaby Luigi(Talk to me?)

Questions about undoing edits

Excuse my newbieness, but is there any difference between undoing an article's most recent edit, editing/saving the penultimate author's edit, and rolling back the edit? I realize that 'undo' will auto-populate the change summary field, is that the only difference? (Haven't tried rollback yet, tbh... does it let you provide a summary?) EDIT: Also, do I still need to mark an edit as patrolled even after I revert it? And (stupid question) should I make sure to patrol all edits that I see that need patrolling? --sunmarsh (talk) 23:02, August 7, 2014 (EDT)

Undo will revert the last edit, while rollback undoes all edits made by the last editor (so potentially several edits). If you undo an edit, you still have to patrol the reverted edit I believe. In regards to patrolling edits you see in need of patrolling, it is swell if you do patrol them, but you do not have to. Hope this helps a little! ~~SuperAlpaca (talk) 23:49, August 7, 2014 (EDT)
Expanding on SA's excellent answer, rolling back an edit is instant, and does not let you provide an edit summary. I typically only use roll backs for obvious vandalism, especially when an editor has made a series of vandalistic edits and I need to quickly revert them all. Otherwise, doing an undo with an edit summary is usually your best bet. Rolling back an edit does mark an edit as patrolled, I believe (unlike undoing, which SA mentioned). ~SuperHamster Talk 00:34, August 8, 2014 (EDT)
Regarding the patrolling, if you do happen to see unpatrolled edits (with the red !) while viewing the recent changes list, it is part of your responsibility as a patroller to check them out and either mark them as patrolled or rollback/undo malicious ones. However, as SA said, you don't have to make it a point to patrol every single edit and you shouldn't go out of your way to look for unpatrolled edits. --Jake 13:32, August 8, 2014 (EDT)

Honoured Member help!!

Hey superhamster, I made 150 legitimate edits to the wiki (not spam, good edits) before 30 days, but it says I am not on the list of Honoured Users. Users. Do you know why?--Marcus (talk) 21:31, October 8, 2014 (EDT)

Hey Marcus - I believe that edits to the userspace no longer count towards the Honored Member count, sorry! This was changed a while back to keep the award focused on edits to articles, files, and other wiki content. I'll review the exact conditions with Jake and will update our page on that soon.
If you take a look at the bottom of Special:HonoredMembers, if will tell you exactly how many edits you have that count towards becoming an Honored Member, along with how many more you need. ~SuperHamster Talk 03:23, October 9, 2014 (EDT)

I checked on the page, it didn't say how many more I needed.--Marcus (talk) 07:55, October 9, 2014 (EDT)

That's 'cause only staff members (patrollers and administrators) can see the count, sorry! And I know for a fact that edits marked as 'minor' don't count either. Red Snapper 11:50, October 9, 2014 (EDT)
Whoop, thanks Red! But yea, we'll try to get an exact list of the edits that do and do not count towards Honored Member status. ~SuperHamster Talk 12:48, October 9, 2014 (EDT)

ItemList template questions

Hey there Kevin, I wanted to get some feedback on the ItemList template and ask a few questions. First off, the class "collapsible" that is applied to tables and "mw-collapsible" that is applied to divs to make them collapsible has a few annoying features and I was wondering if it's possible to modify the HTML/CSS code for these classes to fix them? The main issue is with the placement of the 'show'/'hide' buttons. In this table the show/hide button is not vertically centered; is it possible to change the vertical alignment of the button? In this table the button appears awkwardly above the header in the table's first column. This is because the button 'takes up' quite a bit of space before it and essentially 'pushes' the text to the line below it. Is there any way we can change this so that the button doesn't take up so much invisible space to its left? It might also be helpful to add just a bit of padding on the button's right side so it doesn't brush up against the side like it does in the navboxes (e.g. Template:Furniture).

While I'm at it, I also wanted to get your opinion on collapsible item lists in general. Do you think that it's awkward to have the show/hide button in the first column (like this)? Or do you think it's better above the table with a heading (like this)? And do you think nia.png is appropriate to use if we don't have an image of the item on-hand? Or should we just leave the field blank?

Lastly, I wanted to ask again about Nookipedia's YouTube account and what you wanted me to do in the meantime while Jake is (maybe... hopefully... ;P) looking into a solution for the ACGC video files. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 17:15, October 18, 2014 (EDT)

Hey Sun! I really wish I could have an answer about editing the table HTML/CSS to accomplish what you want, but that's something I don't have experience with for MediaWiki. I'll have to discuss that with Jake - mind starting a discussion on the Bulletin Board between us? I'll send him a ping to join the discussion once done.
As for the preferred table, I like the latter a lot better. Having the title and the show/hide button on the right side is simpler and cleaner IMO, but that's my two cents.
I'd also support having an image placeholder for missing images, since it looks a bit awkward to have a mix of single- and multiple-line rows.
Aaand finally, I've shot Jake a message about the YouTube account. I'll get back to you on that :) Great work on the tables so far, love them! ~SuperHamster Talk 21:20, October 18, 2014 (EDT)
Sorry it's taken so long, I've added you both to a conversation over on the forums about modifying the CSS/HTML code for those classes. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:52, October 27, 2014 (EDT)
Nice, thanks! I shot Jake a message, hopefully he could take a look into it. ~SuperHamster Talk 17:44, October 27, 2014 (EDT)

Main Page DLC Section Editable?

Hello, Eric Here! (new to Nookipedia, but enjoying it so far!)

Not a huge deal but I created my account to add to the DLC section on the Main Page for November (Scorpion Lamp) but I can't seem to edit that part. If this was deliberate to prevent vandalism I understand. Also I haven't gotten my confirmation email yet but I can of course wait on that. Thanks! This is an incredible reference tool and I use it just about every time I play New Leaf. Keep up the excellent work. Hey there Eric - welcome to the wiki, and sorry for the late reply! The DLC template is indeed protected, since it's on the Main Page and is shown to nearly all visitors. I've gone ahead and updated the DLC for December, so thanks for the reminder! In the future, feel free to contact me or another staff member if we forget to update it.
As for the confirmation email, be sure to check your spam folder. If it's not there, I do remember a few other instances of editors having problems with confirmation emails, so get back to me if you can't find it and I'll try to see what's going on. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 18:46, November 26, 2014 (EST)
Sorry to butt in, but I've been having trouble for months, and yes, I've checked the spam folder on virtually every attempt (didn't User:Technickal have some trouble with this as well?). So I think we may have a 'technickal' (pardon the pun) problem here that could use some fixing. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 06:27, November 29, 2014 (EST)
Gotcha, thanks for the update - I see we discussed it back in April. I'll get in touch with Jake. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 22:24, November 29, 2014 (EST)

Possible vandalism

Reverted some edits made by Hashir, I believe they may have been an act of vandalism and not a youngster who didn't know better. I don't know if you want to give them a warning or temporary ban, but I thought I would let you know as I wasn't sure what action to take. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 12:16, November 30, 2014 (EST)

Thanks for the heads up. I've left a message on their talk page for now - anything more should result in a block. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 13:59, November 30, 2014 (EST)

Forum topic about IP address range thing

Red snapper says there's a forum topic about IP ranges and stuff like that but the thread is in the staff discussion child board so I can't view it. Are you able to move it out of the child board(Mario said I could ask you about it)

--50.136.149.237 17:58, May 31, 2015 (EDT)

If everyone is fine with it, we'll move it. I'll get back to you if so :) Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 21:41, May 31, 2015 (EDT)
With everyone's permission, the thread has been moved here. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 21:12, June 1, 2015 (EDT)

Re:Bureaucrat

Yes! I'd be more than happy to receive another promotion. Thanks! We need bureaucrats around here anyway! I'm honored to know that I'm trusted enough here to be recommended to be among the highest ranks in Nookipedia! Again, thanks! Mario Signature.png 00:15, June 1, 2015 (EDT)

Great, thanks Mario! I've put up your nomination. ~SuperHamster Talk 17:09, June 1, 2015 (EDT)

Vacation template

Do you think Nookipedia should have a vacation template? It would be helpful if we had a template so the community would know if a certain user wasn't going to be editing for some time. Just a thought, since I'm planning on using it soon (although last time I just created my own and built it into my talk page :P) Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 12:53, June 16, 2015 (EDT)

Yea, definitely! Feel free to make one, or I can try my hand at it when I get off work tonight. Took my lunch break for this E3 presentation. A good thing I did ;P ~SuperHamster Talk 12:56, June 16, 2015 (EDT)
I've created one, but since I'm not an expert in template creation, it's not 100% complete. The image could be shifted farther to the right, but I don't know how this is done. Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 13:27, June 16, 2015 (EDT)
I'll take a look later tonight. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk 13:30, June 16, 2015 (EDT)
@Red, wheres the template? - HomerJC (talk) 17:50, July 25, 2015 (EDT)

Amiibo Festival Page Shortcut

Hey SH, do we happen to have a page shortcut for Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival like we do for {{NL}}? ~PoizonMushro0mPoizonMush Sig.png 20:37, August 2, 2015 (EDT)

Yes, it's {{AMF}}. --Jake 20:44, August 2, 2015 (EDT)

Question

I have a curious question for you, SuperHamster. Are your edits to file pages with an edit summary of 'Adding and/or correcting licensing information (Game Screenshot)' automated? Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 15:24, August 3, 2015 (EDT)

Yes, actually! When I first joined Nookipedia, one of the first things I did was tag images with licensing tags. At some point, SuperAlpaca was shocked to find out my tagging wasn't automated, as there were hundreds upon hundreds of images to tag...so I found a script from Wikipedia and brought it here at User:SuperHamster/vector.js. This script adds a button to the left of my username that, when clicked, replaces all the content of the page you are on with the 'game screenshot' licensing tag. If you do ever want to use it or modify it, feel free :) ~SuperHamster Talk 19:58, August 3, 2015 (EDT)
Aw, does that mean it only works on the Vector skin? I don't want to lose the seasonal colours of the default skin just for this tool... Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 05:43, August 6, 2015 (EDT)
I imagine it should work with other skins, though I'm not entirely sure and it's been forever since I messed with it. I'd try it out! ~SuperHamster Talk 23:08, August 6, 2015 (EDT)

Uploading a replacement image with a different MIME type

I'm trying to replace the current image of Flurry we have on file and the new image is .png while the previous image is .JPG. When I try to replace the old image I can't because their file types differ. I don't want to convert the .png to .JPG as we lose the transparent background in the process. What is the best way to deal with this? Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:57, August 21, 2015 (EDT)

Hey Sunmarsh - I'd upload the file under a new name (name.png), replace all the .jpg images with the .png, and then delete the .jpg. This is all assuming they're the same image. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:12, August 21, 2015 (EDT)

RE: Hey thanks!

Hey, no problem man. Glad to be of service to you. :)

question

Hey, is it possible to get my user account renamed? I made this account quite a while back and dont really like the name; if not, thats fine too. ~ Toad'ShyGuy (talk) 15:08, September 12, 2015 (EDT)

Hey there - it is! Just let me know what username you'd like. Your old userpage and user talk page will redirect to your new username. ~SuperHamster Talk 15:50, September 12, 2015 (EDT)
it might sound a little weird, but since I use this name on other places too and have been doing so for a while, can you rename me to Qyzxf ~ Toad'ShyGuy (talk) 09:58, September 14, 2015 (EDT)
Done. --Jake 13:38, September 14, 2015 (EDT)
Thanks for tackling this Jake :) ~SuperHamster Talk 13:49, September 14, 2015 (EDT)

Bulletin Board problems

Hello. I've noticed two small problems on the bulletin boards. The 'Recent Status Updates' box is not functioning correctly for me. It shows out of date status updates (from Nov 4, 2014 to Jan 5, 2015) rather than the actual latest ones. Also, I can't start conversations, hence why I'm posting these issues here.

Do you know what is wrong? Red (snappity snap snap!) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 11:04, September 13, 2015 (EDT)

It wouldn't let me reply there, so I'll reply here. It definitely has something to do with moving TBB to a new server/database a few days ago, but I'm not currently aware of the exact issue. I'm going to have to do some investigation still to find out what exactly is going on. --Jake 15:49, September 13, 2015 (EDT)
For the record, I've received messages on the Bulletin Board from both of you. It might be saying that the message failed to send, but it gets sent anyway? ~SuperHamster Talk 16:05, September 13, 2015 (EDT)
Ok, it turns out the posting problem was actually because of the email setup. I've fixed this, so posting should be working as usual. I'm still working on the recent status updates issue. --Jake 19:26, September 13, 2015 (EDT)

Username change

Yes, I want my username to be rather "Heidy Isabel" than "Heidy.isabel". Thanks Heidy.isabel (talk) 19:11, September 20, 2015 (EDT)

Done! Your old userpage now redirects to your new one. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:39, September 20, 2015 (EDT)

Thanks a bunch! Heidy.isabel (talk) 01:22, September 21, 2015 (EDT)

Bulletin boards

Some new accounts on the bulletin boards are posting gay porn threads. Please fix ASAP! Red (snappity snap snap!) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 11:48, September 28, 2015 (EDT)

Took care of that this morning - thank you for the heads up! Interestingly those accounts were created back in 2014... ~SuperHamster Talk 16:57, September 28, 2015 (EDT)

Can you change names of a file?

So recently, I uploaded a bunch of files of amiibo cards. I listed them as being North American. However, I've just learned that they are actually from Europe. Is therea way you can changed the name and summary of a file? Thanks.

Heidy Isabel November 10, 2015, 05:01 (EDT)

Hey Heidy - yes! Admins and above can move files. It seems like a fair tool to give to Patrollers, however, so I will bring up with Jake the idea of granting Patrollers the ability to move files too. Otherwise, I can take care of moving them. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk 00:30, November 10, 2015 (EST)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Patrollers move files? Trainiax has moved some files after all, and he's a patroller. Mario Signature.png 00:40, November 10, 2015 (EST)
But what about the summary? Is it possible to change that? Heidy Isabel 00:45, November 10, 2015 (EDT)
Mario - you got me! I saw that admins had the movefile right, without realizing that all users actually do. Thanks for the correction.
Heidy - you can go ahead and move files using the "move" link at the top of the file page. Summaries can be changed by editing the file page like you would any article. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:50, November 10, 2015 (EST)
If you already linked the files, make sure after you're done moving, you delete the file redirects. Or, you can move files without leaving a file redirect behind, but make sure you update the image links or else the images won't show up in their respective pages. Mario Signature.png 01:13, November 10, 2015 (EST)
I think I've got it to work now. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks for both of help! Heidy Isabel 01:36, November 10, 2015 (EDT)
No problem. Moving files isn't hard. Remember, delete the file redirects once you're done updating the links. Mario Signature.png 01:49, November 10, 2015 (EST)

Request (2)

Could you please hide this revision? [2] Thank you! Red (snappity snap snap!) 20px 14:45, November 19, 2015 (EST)

Done, thank you. ~SuperHamster Talk 14:46, November 19, 2015 (EST)
I'm very suspicious that a new account ('Ultramayor') is a sockpuppet of blocked user Zack; he's made an identical bad edit. Could you please check? Red (snappity snap snap!) 20px 15:20, November 19, 2015 (EST)
Confirmed sock - blocked the sock account indefinitely as a result. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk 15:25, November 19, 2015 (EST)
So should Zack's ban be extended then? What do you think? Red (snappity snap snap!) 20px 15:28, November 19, 2015 (EST)
I think it's a good idea. Use your best judgement :) ~SuperHamster Talk 15:29, November 19, 2015 (EST)
On second thoughts, it's not worth it, since this guy is autoblocked now anyway for 24 hours thanks to my initial block on Ultramayor. If any more socks are created though, the ban can definitely be extended. Red (snappity snap snap!) 20px 15:35, November 19, 2015 (EST)

Uhh, what?

  • I found this on my disk...

  • My storage space went up when I put it on my disk....
  • Help?

Hey there - where did you get the file from? What folder did you find it in? ~SuperHamster Talk 23:59, November 30, 2015 (EST)
It was in C:/, and I got it from a download that said it was "Firefox 1.0 download". - Xander503 (talk) (contribs) 00:26, December 1, 2015 (EST)
Hmm...how old is your computer? What operating system and browser are you using? I believe in some older systems, files over 2 gigabytes in size would give you a negative size. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:32, December 1, 2015 (EST)
