Renaming the page to more game neutral term?
As the article mentions, the Resident Representative in New Horizons has a similar role to the Mayor in New Leaf. Further information about the Resident Representative could be writen in this article without the need to create a new one. I don't think (I can't imagine) that later games would change the player one's role drastically enough that it would need a new article, so perhaps something along the lines of "First player's role" could be the new name? Although I see that the article also mentions Tortimer. That could be perhaps moved to another page, like "Government", where further information about how the towns in all the games are run could be. Paviinka(Message me!) 13:07, June 14, 2020 (EDT)
- Given that we're using NH-language to describe in-game items and critters (e.g. 'flooring' and 'Bee'), it would seem that we should do the same when referring to player roles like this. I've added a move request on the page and am suggesting the intro of the article be rewritten so that it's framed around the 'Resident representative' rather than the 'Mayor'. - How Do I rename it? Bebber71😺 Petaldancer66😺 16:55, April 29, 2021 (EDT)
- There is a More tab at the top, where there are 2 options (for autoconfirmed users): Purge cache and Move. If you select Move, you can change the title of the page. ~ Vivian (Talk with me?) 18:07, April 29, 2021 (EDT)
- It's been a while since this has been talked about, but I Oppose renaming to Resident Representative. It would make no sense for something to be renamed so when Tortimer is classified as a mayor himself. There isn't really much terms to actually act as replacements for Mayor, so I don't think I'd want this to be moved if for some reason we wanted to stay relevant to NH terminology. In fact, I would go further to say that Mayor AND Resident Representative may need to be split instead because they are radically different in town functions than they were before. Mayor refers running your own town, while Resident Representative, you have control over certain functions around the island but the island itself is owned by Tom Nook. This doesn't make Tom Nook the mayor, so I would say that the term of mayor is not present in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. -- PanchamBro (talk • contributions) 14:21, April 30, 2021 (EDT)
- Now what should I do? Bebber71😺 Petaldancer66😺 20:21, April 30, 2021 (EDT)
- It's best to just wait it out, and see everyone's response and see if they support or oppose this. ~ Vivian (Talk with me?) 20:30, April 30, 2021 (EDT)
- I Support this, because most topics in this wiki were changed to newer releases, like the Great Purple Emperor, but it just mentions what it was called in previous releases.Barreleye (talk) 19:50, June 14, 2021 (EDT)
- Actually, I agree with PanchamBro, since the Resident Representative doesn't actually own the island, and Tortimer wouldn't fit in a page named Resident Representative, as he is the mayor. ~ Vivian (talk) 19:57, June 14, 2021 (EDT)
- I Oppose the move per PanchamBro. I feel that mayor and Resident Representative should be their own pages. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 20:24, June 14, 2021 (EDT)
- well, why don’t we give tortimer his own page? That would help with some confusionBarreleye (talk) 09:38, June 15, 2021 (EDT)
- I Oppose the move, as it would be confusing to change the title of a page to one that only suits one game. Same reasons as PanchamBro, other than that. ~ ZuckerBot2008 (Talk) 20:24, June 14, 2021 (EDT)
