The Pavé NH Character Icon.png 1.7.0 Free Update was an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on January 28, 2020. The update returned Festivale, alongside its host Pavé. It was announced on January 26, 2020.[1]

Returning features

  • Festivale, and its respective host Pavé return in 1.7.0.
    • In preparation of the event, Nook's Cranny will sell Festivale Series furniture from February 1 to February 15, and Able Sisters will sell [[Item:Festivale Tank Dress ({{{2}}})|Festivale Tank Dress]], [[Item:Festivale Costume ({{{2}}})|Festivale Costume]], and [[Item:Festivale Accessory ({{{2}}})|Festivale Accessory]].
    • As with New Leaf, Pavé will ask the player to give him feathers in exchange for Festivale Series furniture. Players can find these feathers in the air in various types—[[Item:Red Feather ({{{2}}})|Red Feather]], [[Item:Green Feather ({{{2}}})|Green Feather]], [[Item:Blue Feather ({{{2}}})|Blue Feather]], and [[Item:Purple Feather ({{{2}}})|Purple Feather]]s. There's also the rare chance to encounter and catch a [[Item:Rainbow Feather ({{{2}}})|Rainbow Feather]], though in the chance of being unable to find one, a DIY recipe is provided for the Rainbow Feather.[2]
    • After a while, Pavé will ask the player to catch him three Rainbow Feathers. Once this is accomplish, Pavé will deliver the player a [[Item:Festivale Float ({{{2}}})|Festivale Float]]. This can be done over and over again.[2]
    • Feathers can be exchanged to other villagers to obtain other types of feathers that the player may not have.[2]
    • This event is time-locked, and only unlocks on 1.7.0a. However, the ready days from February 1 to February 14 are not.

New features

  • Four new Festivale-themed Reactions—Feelin' It, Let's Go, Viva, and Confetti—are added in 1.6.0, and they can be obtained via [[Item:Viva Festivale Reaction Set ({{{2}}})|Viva Festivale Reaction Set]]. The reaction set is only available from February 1 to February 15 in Nook's Cranny.
  • New Nook Shopping seasonal events include the following events:
    • Big Game Celebration, meant to coincide with the American football event The Super Bowl, is celebrated from January 15 to February 15 with a [[Item:Football Rug ({{{2}}})|Football Rug]] and a daily rotation of a [[Item:Fiery Cheer Megaphone ({{{2}}})|Fiery Cheer Megaphone]], [[Item:Football Cheer Megaphone ({{{2}}})|Football Cheer Megaphone]], [[Item:Glittery Cheer Megaphone ({{{2}}})|Glittery Cheer Megaphone]], and [[Item:Starry Cheer Megaphone ({{{2}}})|Starry Cheer Megaphone]].
    • Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event that takes place before the first day of Spring in the old Japanese calendar, is celebrated from January 25 to February 3 with a [[Item:Bean-Tossing Kit ({{{2}}})|Bean-Tossing Kit]].
      • Coinciding with the Nook Shopping event, Able Sisters will sell [[Item:Horned-Ogre Mask ({{{2}}})|Horned-Ogre Mask]], [[Item:Okame Mask ({{{2}}})|Okame Mask]], and [[Item:Ogre Costume ({{{2}}})|Ogre Costume]]. However, the Able Sisters event can occur any year while the Nook Shopping event is locked for future years.
    • Groundhog Day, a Western event that tells the legend of a special groundhog testing for its own shadow to determine if Spring will happen early, is celebrated from January 25 to February 2 with a [[Item:Resetti Model ({{{2}}})|Resetti Model]], modeled after Mr. Resetti.
    • Valentine's Day, a global holiday on the basis of love, is celebrated from February 1 to February 14 with a [[Item:Chocolate Heart ({{{2}}})|Chocolate Heart]] and a [[Item:Heart-Shaped Bouquet ({{{2}}})|Heart-Shaped Bouquet]].
    • To add on to the existing Lunar New Year holiday, a [[Item:Bokjumeoni Lucky Pouch ({{{2}}})|Bokjumeoni Lucky Pouch]] and a [[Item:Lucky Red Envelope ({{{2}}})|Lucky Red Envelope]] are available to purchase from February 10 to February 17. They coincide with traditional Lunar New Year events in Korea and Asia respectively.

Bug fixes

In 1.7.0

  • A previously unavailable item that was added in 1.3.0 but was not implemented due to a bug, [[Item:Mermaid Fence ({{{2}}})|Mermaid Fence]], was made available in this update.[3]

Related Updates

  • A re-release of the Sanrio Collaboration Series of amiibo cards (originally released in 2016) was announced alongside the 1.7.0 update. They will return to retailers in Japan, Europe, and North America on March 26, 2021. In North America, they will be exclusive to Target stores and it will be the first time they have been released there.[4][5][6]
