The Glowing Spot is a feature that appears in Doubutsu no Mori, Doubutsu no Mori+, Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+. It was removed from Animal Crossing: Wild World onwards. It consists of a shining area in the ground, and appears in a random area of town once per day, similar to the fake rocks in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The player can dig up the glowing area with a shovel, which will usually result in them receiving 1,000 Bells, but rarely 10,000 or 30,000 Bells can be dug up. A Katrina fortune for good money luck can also result in the player digging up 30,000 Bells.
Buying a second shovel from Tom Nook's store and burying it in the glowing spot may result in a golden tree growing in that space (which can be shook for a golden shovel when fully grown). However, the glowing spot does not always generate in a space that will allow trees to grow.
Burying a bag of money in the glowing spot may also cause a tree to grow; this is the only way to grow money trees in games before Wild World. However, sometimes money trees fail, and a regular tree will grow instead. Up to 30,000 Bells can be planted, and if successful, the money tree will bear three bags of money, each one the same amount the player buried.
