Talk:Animal Crossing: New Leaf

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

Release Date

I think we should remove any hint towards a release date for February 2011 for the Japanese version. No where mentions it will come as a release title for the 3DS, all are just hinting it could be. Heck, some websites don't even list it for release this year, with hundreds of other titles set to come out in Feb, Summer, Fall and Winter.

http://uk.gamespot.com/3ds/puzzle/nintendogscats/news.html?sid=6286117

Gamespot has no mention of it, GoNintendo have the game listed as "To Be Added" and official Nintendo articles don't mention it but they mention loads of other games set for release this year, with AC3DS missing from the lists. The list is endless, and with no citation added it just seems like pure speculation based on the release of the console, than the actual game itself :/

I agree. I have edited this article to show "unknown" as the release date, but it has been reverted for no valid reason. At time of writing, Animal Crossing 3DS HAS NOT been confirmed as a launch title for the 3DS, and has not been given any other release date. To Superalpaca: why did you revert my edit? do you have any evidence of a feburary release date?

--Izakthegoomba 06:43, 17 January 2011 (EST)

I'll revert it back to your edit or remove the date (which ever one won't contradict other edits). It does seem to be a bit speculative.
- MerrytonRyan 10:56, 17 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks, not sure if I should have done myself it as my edit had already been changed back
--Izakthegoomba 11:01, 17 January 2011 (EST)
If there is anything missing you can edit it, within reason of course :)
- MerrytonRyan 11:09, 17 January 2011 (EST)
I'm not sure why SuperAlpaca reverted your edit either. We don't really want any speculation on articles. Thanks for bringing this up!
--Jake 12:03, 17 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks, but still not sure if I should have re-edited it after an admin reverted it or not.
--Izakthegoomba 12:50, 17 January 2011 (EST)

I found a website that said the release date was going to be in June. This is what I'm talking about. You have to click on Spolier --Wii maniac 20:56, 25 February 2011 (EST)

I remember seeing that a while back. It's interesting, but I don't think it would be appropriate to include the date shown on that paper in the article. The dates could very well be tentative - we should ideally wait until Nintendo officially announces a release date to the general public, or at least wait for something more "formal" to be announced. ~SuperHamster Talk 22:58, 25 February 2011 (EST)
I think it should be added and mentioned that is it mearly a rumor or tentetive date. Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 00:09, 26 February 2011 (EST)
We actually talked about this for a while in this forum topic. I've got to side with SuperHamster on this one. We shouldn't post speculation or tentative information on wiki articles. --Jake 01:31, 26 February 2011 (EST)
As already mentioned, there's no point putting rumours in an article that's meant to be factual. If links to pages need to be added, they may as well be kept to the Talk pages. The main article page should be left for the facts. - MerrytonRyan 07:01, 26 February 2011 (EST)

This is the official Gamestop release. MarioStrikerz 09:24, 16 October 2011 (EDT)

Actually, I asked the people at Gamestop, and they said as of now it is going to be released May 12th, 2012. MarioStrikerz 00:43, 26 November 2011 (EST)
Woah, sorry for ignoring your last post! Unfortunately, neither GameStop nor its employees can be considered a reliable source of information. That date is just their best estimate, which they provide in order to convince people to reserve a copy of the game. As you can see, it's constantly changing as well. We can't actually update the article until Nintendo reveals the release date themselves, because only then will it be official. --Jake 00:53, 26 November 2011 (EST)

Bug Catching Pose

Um, the bug catching pose isn't new, they had that in the Gamecube Animal Crossing.--173.17.193.34 19:49, 31 January 2012 (EST)

I haven't played the GameCube version of AC for years, so my memory might be off, but I think that the pose shown in the 3DS trailer is a bit altered and more realistic than in previous games. The player is facing more to one side when sneaking up to the butterfly in the trailer, for example. Minor change, but it's there. ~SuperHamster Talk 17:52, 1 February 2012 (EST)

Release Dates

I know we've got a reference to Nintendo Power however given the no-show at this year's E3, do we still believe that we'll get a fall release? Leem01 02:43, 7 June 2012 (EDT)

Vauge information

This information is really outdated it considers everything to be speculation but the game was already released in japan so ALL of the information is availablle to us we already know exactly whats going to be in the game. - unsigned comment from P13XD (talk contribs)

That is true, but we have yet to see what they will put in the game in other regions. (Be sure to also add your Signature next time please, User:P13XD) -mlnintendo97 (talk)
The wiki will hopefully be all up to date soon - Nookipedia is a community driven site, so anyone can help update the site as we get more info :) ~SuperHamster Talk 01:15, 19 November 2012 (EST)

New Features Section

Is this meant to be a full list of all the new features or just the main ones. I believe it was only supposed to be there whilst the game was in development so that all new announced features could be put there, not every minor feature. Leem01 13:25, 18 December 2012 (EST)

I think we should cover as many new features as we can while still being concise, and not going overboard. Right now, I think the article's new features list is a bit overboard. We could merge some bullet points into shorter paragraphs, such as merging all new multiplayer features together, and placing furniture features into another, etc., followed by several bullet points highlighting other miscellaneous new features. I'll trim down whatever I can later. ~SuperHamster Talk 03:33, 7 January 2013 (EST)

ScreenShots Section?

Should we add a section for screenshots taken by people who have the Japanese version? Mine turtle 15:14, 31 January 2013 (EST)

No, they seem fine in our gallery section. We don't need another section of pictures on the article. -mlnintendo97 18:31, 31 January 2013 (EST)

New Places

From this boxart I see a few interesting things.

  • In the on the right side of the tree, you can see a pyramid.
  • On the far left side, there is a tower that sort of looks like the Iffle Tower in France.
  • On the far right side, you can see the city and on the steps you can see Tom Nook which might mean he now works in the city.

That is all I found. Pokebub 02:12, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

The Eiffel Tower and Pyramid (didn't notice that before, good eye) are public works projects that the player can place in their town for decoration. As for Tom Nook, it's confirmed that he'll be returning to the game running Nook's Homes, which is on Main Street (the New Leaf equivalent to the city). ~SuperHamster Talk 02:46, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

Embedded videos

Is there a way to put these videos somewhere else? They clog up loading time for most computers. Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 17:57, September 8, 2013 (EDT)

I'd definitely support removing or moving the videos - they take up a lot of space, and don't really add much to the article. We could create a subpage (Animal Crossing: New Leaf/Videos?) and use that as a separate director of official New Leaf videos. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:46, September 15, 2013 (EDT)
I'd like a subpage if one really wants to keep these videos (I don't think these videos are that relevant anyway, since the release of New Leaf makes these videos less glamorous). Even with the subpage, I think we should keep the embedding to a minimum, providing just the links and that's it. It's mostly the embedding causing the issues after all. I've tried removing the videos, but XXSuperXXNintendoXx reverted my edits.

New Leaf Update: Own article?

The upcoming New Leaf update is proving to be pretty large. I think it'd be nice to create a separate article for it, to really go into depth of what additions are being made. Since the update has yet to come, features of the update are hot right now, and having a single article we can point towards to say "here's what's in the update!" is great for both coverage and publicity. Thoughts? ~SuperHamster Talk 04:16, October 5, 2016 (EDT)

I agree, this update will have a tonne of content, and putting it into a separate article only seems fit. ZCJigglypuff(Talk) 04:26, October 5, 2016 (EDT)
Agreeing with all the above, and there's also the added advantage that linking to the update is less awkward if it has its own article. :) Red (talk)Red Snapper HHD Icon.png 12:10, October 5, 2016 (EDT)

Edit not showing

Why won't my article edit show up? It's past when the 3ds online shut down and I'm trying to get the article to reflect that.
