Spoiler template

It is broke and needs fixing. I have no idea what the problem is so I am asking you. Please SH, you're our only hope. Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 19:11, 18 June 2013 (EDT)

Huh. Looks like the template is working fine, except that it breaks whenever it contains an external link...no idea why, though. SuperHamster ain't so Super. I guess we'll just have to experiment around with it. ~SuperHamster Talk 21:29, 18 June 2013 (EDT)

Merging contributions and apologies

Firstly, I want to apologize for creating a new page when there was already a page for the subject. I'm used to a naming convention on wikis where the title would be "Fortune Cookie". I should've checked around the pages to make sure I had things right, I also should've done a more thorough look for the page.

Secondly, I was wondering if we could merge the contributions from the page I created into the already existing page. While, of course this includes some personal bias seeing as I did create the page, but I was thinking we could take the content from the redirect page and merge it with the content already on the page. Just an idea.

Again, I apologize for my mistake in the page creation.

Edit: I also want to say, since I saw the above section, that I am an editor on Wikia and before the move I edited the Wikia AC wiki a couple of times, and I have to say that the NIWA one is far better and professional. The Wikia one includes some of the newer features and, to say the least, they're unpleasant. – Jazzi (talk) 10:29, 21 June 2013 (EDT)

Hey, no need to apologize! It's just a quick fix :) It's a wiki, after all. Nothing wrong with making more content. I only did a quick glance at what you wrote, so if you want to go ahead and add to or replace anything in the current article, go for it. Here's the link to your revision. And that's nice to hear; both wikis have their strengths, but we try. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 10:32, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
I tend to worry about overstepping boundaries when editing a new wiki. I have rollback (I think it's like patroller, I really don't know; it lets the user undo multiple revisions by a single user so I really don't know if it's similar or not) rights on Zeldapedia and bureaucrat/sysop rights on Pokémon Wiki so I'm well standing in the community. So when I come to a new wiki I'm always worried that I might be editing like I do on a wiki where I'm known in the community when I don't know the community. I just don't want to come across as a full-of-themselves new editor, even though sometimes I am like that! – Jazzi (talk) 10:44, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
Totally understandable! I feel the same way when I go to a new wiki. Luckily we're pretty light-hearted here :) Do whatever you think is best. You're clearly experienced, so there's nothing to worry about. Nice thing about a wiki is that anything can be fixed ;) If you ever have any questions though, don't hesitate to ask! I'm sure you'll feel fitted in soon enough. I see you've joined our forums a long while back; it's a nice place to get to know other members, too. ~SuperHamster Talk 10:49, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
I have a question on number standards. I was taught that unless the number is below 100, it should be written out. This varies with each person so I was wondering what the standard was here? – Jazzi (talk) 11:07, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
Hrm...that's a toughy! I don't think we actually have an explicit rule written out anywhere about that. However, when a rule is in question, we usually default to Wikipedia's standards. In infoboxes and tables, numbers should always be written in numerical form. Otherwise, in the article prose, the number should be written out if it's >100 (unless it's something simple, such as "one million"). From 10 - 100, it's up to the writer, as far as I'm aware. If it's <10, it should be written out. And, like everything else in this world, there may always be exceptions (if anyone else reading this knows otherwise, feel free to call me out on it). ~SuperHamster Talk 11:15, 21 June 2013 (EDT)

Donations?

Hey, Superhamster. Is there any way to donate to the wiki? I don't have much real world money, but I do happen to have ~$15 worth of Bitcoin. If the wiki doesn't have a donation page, why not add one? I imagine some extra income could probably help the wiki out.

Thanks for the generous thought, Will! However, according to Jake, who keeps our servers running beautifully, the wiki is currently doing well in regards to funding. Our revenue from advertising is more than enough to keep the site up, especially with the higher traffic thanks to the release of New Leaf. If you have any more questions regarding the servers, though, feel free to ask Jake. Again, thanks for the thought! ~SuperHamster Talk 18:02, 21 June 2013 (EDT)

Name

Yep, it is. RCT1 and RCT2 ftw. I don't like RCT3 because it lacks the awesomeness (and micromanagement) of RCT1/2. :-) Rctgamer3 08:21, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

Ai! RCT3 has to be one of my favorite games. I suppose we'll just have to accept our differences ;) ~SuperHamster Talk 10:11, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

Userboxes

When I had first created my userpage I had made my own userboxes, I was wondering if I could possible alter the templates on Nookipedia:Userboxes so that the colors were more neutral and less clashing? Examples of my work with userboxes can be found on my userpage here and on my userpage at Zeldapedia. – Jazzi (talk) 15:39, 26 June 2013 (EDT)

Go for it, I'm sure no one would mind. Some of our userboxes could definitely use some work. ~SuperHamster Talk 15:42, 26 June 2013 (EDT)

Templates

I created three new templates ({{Clr}}, {{Clrl}}, and {{Clrr}}) which does the same thing as <br clear="all/left/right" />. I made them because I personally feel it makes more sense to use the templates in place of using the actual code. If you feel they aren't needed feel free to delete them. – Jazzi (talk) 08:23, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

Looks good! :) Nice job. ~SuperHamster Talk 08:24, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

Jazzi Section

I figured since I have a lot of upcoming questions I'll make a little section for them instead of making 50 headers.

I was wondering if the template {{Antarctican}} could be deleted as the user who created it, SuperAlpaca, created it on the Wikia Animal Crossing wiki, where the template was created from Zeldapedia. The userbox originated as a joke. As you will notice no other wiki, or if there is one, has a "This user is Antarctican." userbox, because I'm fairly certain no one can live in Antarctica to procreate and then be Antarctican. You'll also notice from viewing SuperAlpaca's userpage on Zeldapedia that he himself does not use the userbox. And lastly, you'll notice that nobody on Nookipedia uses the template either. So it doesn't really make sense to keep it, since no one here would understand the joke. I personally don't understand the joke because it happened before my time as an editor. So... yeah. – Jazzi (talk) 10:23, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

I would also like to request the permission to edit the userpages that user {{User home}}, {{User wish}}, and {{User country}} to switch it over to code since the colors kind of clash with the flags and there would be a lot of templates to create a counterpart. Alternatively, I drafted up how a few would look in my sandbox were we to change those templates into User Home US or something similar. – Jazzi (talk) 10:27, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

Hrm...I kind of like the Anterctican userbox. I laughed the first time I saw it. (Or maybe I just have an immature sense of humor...) If you really want it deleted, we could, but I don't think it's a big deal. You never know ;) Antarctic expeditions are getting more popular.
As for those userpages, I wouldn't individually substitute each userbox and adjust the colors - that would be up to each user to do. If you go ahead and create those templates, though (User Home US, User Wish US, etc.), updating users' userpages with the new userbox templates should be fine, to keep everything standardized. ~SuperHamster Talk 13:53, 27 June 2013 (EDT)
I'll create the templates in place then. There's no problem with the userbox being here, it just seems weird, it not being used. – Jazzi (talk) 13:58, 27 June 2013 (EDT)
Sounds good! Great job with the userboxes so far - they've been a mess for quite a while before you came. ~SuperHamster Talk 14:00, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

NL Villager Artwork

Hi SH, great work on managing the wiki! All the new templates and information looks great. I was just wondering where you're getting the NL Villager Artwork from because I'd love to help out with it if I could! Leem01 02:49, 11 July 2013 (EDT)

Hey Leem - thanks for the kind words! I've come across a Nintendo image repository wiki called PidgiWiki (see their New Leaf category) - it's a small but great site that focuses on cataloging official Nintendo images and artwork, and will hopefully have the potential to join NIWA down the road. The editors there have access to various Nintendo press libraries, and were able to find New Leaf villager images for me. They found whatever they could, though unfortunately a good few villagers are still missing, most of them being the villagers new to New Leaf (which is what we need most, ironically). Right now, I've uploaded the majority of pictures they could find to Nookipedia. I'll finish the last dozen or so tonight. What's left to do now is add all those villager images to our articles/lists. Wookiee has already got a great start on that, though there's plenty left to go (eeurrghh). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 11:38, 11 July 2013 (EDT)

Changing Name on Staff List

Hey Kevin, quick question, can I make my "M" on my section of the staff list lowercase? I don't know if it is meant to be that way as that is how my actual username looks, but my username is meant to be with a lowercase, so can it be changed? -mlnintendo97 22:11, 15 July 2013 (EDT)

Sure. Only reason it was capitalized was that your username is, technically, capitalized, nothing else :) ~SuperHamster Talk 02:25, 16 July 2013 (EDT)

Inactivity

Hello,

Sorry again for being inactive, it is due to have no access to the internet and had a vacation. I promise I will edit again and I do look forward to be part of your staff members to help the wiki more. I want to inform you that I will start working on the characters and villagers pages as usual, since I have some high quality images which can be handy sometimes.

Sorry again and thank you, Wolfgang 12:27, 23 July 2013 (EDT)

No problem! Glad to have you back :) ~SuperHamster Talk 11:24, 24 July 2013 (EDT)

New Leaf

Hello,

I was passing through the main articles of the wiki, like the Fishing Tourney and New Year's Eve, I noticed that there were no sections regarding the New Leaf in them and many other pages. I did update the above two, and added the needed information for them. But I do suggest you to inform all the users about it, since we have a lack of info regarding New Leaf in many articles. You can use the sitenotice. Sorry for disturbing.

Thank you, Wolfgang 22:03, 24 July 2013 (EDT)

Hey Wolfgang - thanks for the heads up :) I've been working to put together a checklist of sorts for things we still need to cover in New Leaf, I've just been pretty busy lately. When I finish, I'll be sure to include events we still need to cover on there. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 11:08, 25 July 2013 (EDT)

Wikitable Error

Hey Kevin, I know I really should be worrying about my userspace all that much, but can you tell me what I did wrong with the wikitable at the top of this page on my userspace? From what I can tell, the section merges with the one on top of it when I add "New Play Control!" instead of "Example". I would try to fix it, but I have been trying to keep my edits to my userspace to a minimum. A simple explanation would be nice as I would feel really bad for having you fix my mistake. -mlnintendo97 21:38, 28 July 2013 (EDT)

Not a problem, Mike :) Though I'm actually not seeing any problems, in neither Chrome, Firefox, or the dreaded IE. Think you could provide a screenshot?
Regardless, I think I can tell you the problem: it's the exclamation point. You'll notice that a ! indicates a header row in a wikitable; having that at the end of "New Play Contol!" is probably screwing up something for you (thought it looks fine to me). ~SuperHamster Talk 01:10, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
Odd, I went on the page to take a screenshot, but it appears as I would of liked it to. I only had the issue on my Windows XP computer, so it might be just an issue with my XP computer. Thanks for the help regardless! -mlnintendo97 13:08, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
Huh, weird. I traded the exclamation mark for its HTML code (see this edit). When you get a chance, check it again on your XP machine. Should hopefully work then :) ~SuperHamster Talk 13:14, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
I'll check it out on there when I have the chance, thanks again! :) -mlnintendo97 13:25, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
Just checked it out on my Windows XP device, the HTML code fixed it. Thanks once again! -mlnintendo97 23:02, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Great, no prob :) ~SuperHamster Talk 23:39, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Also, out of curiosity, why is Special:BlockMe disabled? Sorry to go off topic. :P -mlnintendo97 23:58, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Oh wow - how did you stumble upon that? It's an ancient page, a remnant of past versions of MediaWiki. Did some investigating: apparently it allowed users to block themselves by inputting their own IP addresses. Interesting find. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:18, 31 July 2013 (EDT)
I found it while looking for the current block list to see if we currently had anyone blocked. I checked it out to see if I could indeed block myself. Now I'm really curious to see if we will actually get that enabled. It's amazing what you find on the wikispace when you're bored, haha -mlnintendo97 00:55, 31 July 2013 (EDT)
I don't think it can be enabled, as far as I know. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's completely removed from the MediaWiki software itself. There is no official documentation on it as far as I can find. As for blocking yourself, you can indeed. You can also unblock yourself, though. On Wikipedia, I've seen it used by administrators as statements to take responsibility for bad actions, or to enforce a break. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:04, 31 July 2013 (EDT)
That's a shame, I guess it is like Special:Patrol in a way. It's good to hear that I can block myself at any given time, this will be handy if I ever become a bad mlnintendo some day... :P -mlnintendo97 01:12, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

Illustrations

Hello. I'm an administrator of another Animal Crossing wiki called Animal Crossing Enciclopedia (Spanish wiki of Wikia Gaming). Days ago I asked this to Super Alpaca. I asked if we could use the 1300px New Leaf ilustrations that Aplaca uploaded, and also asked where did he find'em. He told me that we can use them and that you might know where did you find HD ilustrations.
Sorry if I made mistakes, gotta improve my English.

-- Administrators of [es.animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Animal_Crossing_Enciclopedia:Administradores Animal Crossing Enciclopedia].
PD: Nookipedia still hasn't changed the question "Who owns the main store in all Animal Crossing games? (Full Name)" that appears when you edit on a user talk page and you ain't logged in. I told SuperAlpaca. Maybe he hadn't got time or just changed it for the people who creates an account (because this question also appears there).
It was actually me that uploaded those photos ;) We got them per request from PidgiWiki, a site the uploads images from Nintendo's press image libraries. And as SuperAlpaca said, you are more than welcome to use them - they are Nintendo's images, after all :) Thanks for asking!
As for the security question, thanks for pointing that out - I'll let Jake, our site admin, know. If you ever need anything else, feel free to ask. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:26, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

Cherry Blossom Festival and Chat

Hello,

I came to request you to help me in the Cherry Blossom Festival. I added info regarding the New Leaf in it, but it's low and I need more points to support that section. Like, I heard that leaves fall during that time and all those stuffs, but not sure. Can you see if you can find a solution regarding it? And, the chat of this wiki doesn't work for me. Is there any specific IRC host and channel it has? If so, please inform me about.

Thank you, Wolfgang 22:31, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

Hey there - I'll edit when I can, though I've been pretty busy these last few weeks. Regarding the chat, it's currently down - we don't have anything similar, and usually, there aren't too many users online at a time to make it worthwhile. To reach out to all editors, however, you may post at the Community Fountain, or make a thread at our forums. Hope this helps :) Thanks for your help! ~SuperHamster Talk 15:12, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Hey Wolfgang, if you'd like a chat service dedicated to Animal Crossing, try this one out. If you have any questions about this chat, let me know. :)-mlnintendo97 00:02, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

Wild World/City Folk artwork

Hey, I've been searching lately for the official artwork of all Wild World and City Folk villagers. I found this source [1], which has the artwork of every City Folk villager but with small pictures and a lot to make transparent. I was wondering if you know of any sources to find Wild World/City Folk villager artwork (hopefully for every character) in high quality. A few examples of Wild World villager artwork are the pictures of Eloise, Jeremiah, and Teddy. As for City Folk, a few examples are Gabi, Teddy, and Bunnie. If you know of any of these, please let me know, and thanks in advance for any help! --Wookiee123 23:49, 30 July 2013 (EDT)

I might not be the great almighty SuperHamster, but I can suggest the old wiki, Animal Crossing City, as long as you don't tell any of the members there you're stealing thier images, haha -mlnintendo97 23:55, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Mike, I think we have all the same WW and CF images, since we merged after CF came out ;) I can't say for certain, but I think our villager image library is more complete anyway.
Anyway, I'm not too sure of any sources of the top of my head. I checked PidgiWiki - their Wild World images are similar to ours, while their City Folk images are lacking. I'll ask the editors there and see if any of Nintendo's press libraries have any more images for either game and get back to you. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 00:27, 31 July 2013 (EDT)
After asking, it looks like there are a lot more images for both games :) I'll keep you updated as to when they're uploaded. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:50, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

Media player

Hi SuperHamster;

The audio player (FlashMP3 MediaWiki module) is either broken, not fully configured or disabled. Could you please fix it? If you need any help with either setting it up or generating templates; let me know. I've configured several MediaWiki wiki's before. Rctgamer3 17:59, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

Hey there - I believe the extension just needs updating/fixing, if I remember correctly. Jake, our server master, is the one who deals with issues like these. This has been brought up in the past, though there have been many other things on the plate to take care of. I'll bring the subject back up with Jake and see what we can do :) In the meantime, Youtube music videos have been used to illustrate soundtrack songs. I'll get back to you. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk 02:37, 1 August 2013 (EDT)
Update: Spoke to Jake. He'll be fixing and updating the MP3 extension, along with a few other bugs around the site, after Nookipedia is moved to a brand new server in the coming days :) ~SuperHamster Talk 11:52, 1 August 2013 (EDT)
Hey SH, I've just noticed that the FlashMP3 template still appears to be disabled. I see that Jake is currently fixing and updating the template. If he's still having problems getting it to work, I've got some alternative audio plugins for MediaWiki that he could use. There's AudioPlayer2 and MediawikiPlayer. Feel free to let him know about these plugins if he's still having trouble with them. Thanks! —Platinum Lucario 05:14, 19 August 2013 (EDT)

New leaf

Hello,

I finally got NL, so I will start the work with adding images. I currently did my best to improve some events pages and update them. I hope you are okay with the new changes I did XP.

Thank you, Wolfgang 11:29, 16 August 2013 (EDT)

Nice! Enjoy the game. Your recent edits have been great - keep up the great work :) Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 11:53, 16 August 2013 (EDT)

Cool

Okey dokey, then. If there any questions I'll ask, it's probably going to be policy stuff and all. I already have a basic understanding of wiki code and all, but thanks! Mario (talk) 21:11, September 5, 2013 (EDT)

I'm just wondering, though, is there a way to get a signature? I know in other wikis, I'm able to create a user subpage for my signature, but I can't find any information on signatures here. Mario (talk) 21:13, September 5, 2013 (EDT)
You can change your signature over at your preferences page, which you can access at any time at the upper right of any page. Be sure to check the "Treat signature as wikitext" box if you plan to use wikimarkup. ~SuperHamster Talk 21:16, September 5, 2013 (EDT)
Are there any sort of signature policies that limit what I can put? Obviously, I know I'm not allowed to put really flashy, hard to read, distracting stuff on my signature, but I remember that in some wikis, I'm allowed to put only 1 image; others, I can put 2 max; and in others, I can't put any images at all. Mario (talk) 21:29, September 5, 2013 (EDT)
Nothing too strict - our signature policy is located here. You can also view all our other policy pages at the Community Fountain. ~SuperHamster Talk 21:30, September 5, 2013 (EDT)

Birthday template

Hey SuperHamster, since the release of Animal Crossing Plaza, the special characters' birthdays have been confirmed, and I already added them on the month articles. Several special characters share birthdays with the villagers or even other special characters (Poncho and Dr. Shrunk; Labelle and Jack, respectively). I was wondering if you'd be able to implement a double birthday part on the Main Page's birthday template. Thanks! --Wookiee123 (talk) 23:24, September 5, 2013 (EDT)

Ohh, awesome - nice find! I'll have to take a look at the template later this weekend when I've got time. I'll see what I can do. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:29, September 6, 2013 (EDT)

HEY

it olny displays ip addreses 4 me. HALP - unsigned comment from Crazy Redd (talkcontribs)

Right - if I recall correctly, the list displays both logged in users, and readers who are viewing pages that aren't logged in (which in that case, displays their IP address). I believe the list only counts up to 50 readers, though, so you may not see a complete list of online users if more than 50 are online at a time. ~SuperHamster Talk 21:25, September 7, 2013 (EDT)

Thanks so much!

Thanks for trusting me on this wiki! I'm not even autoconfirmed yet. :P I enjoy devoting my time here and even spending hours and hours doing things. I plan on more things in the future, like taking good screenshots (probably from the first game) and adding information related to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I just started playing it, so I hope I can be some help once I wrangled all the items and other things. But again, thanks! Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 01:55, September 10, 2013 (EDT)

Heh, didn't even notice. No problem! Looking forward to your edits. If you ever need anything, feel free to let me know. I'll see what I can do about the larger, 5 MB alternative you brought up for File:Villager02.jpg. I'll speak to our server admin, Jake, to see what can be done about the restriction. ~SuperHamster Talk 02:00, September 10, 2013 (EDT)
Okay, then. I hope there's a way to get that beautiful image in our wiki because it would be a fantastic addition.Mario Sigpic.png MarioTalk to-a me! 02:25, September 10, 2013 (EDT)
If you can get me a link to the file, I can upload it manually through the server to get around the limit. --Jake 12:46, September 10, 2013 (EDT)
Thanks Jake - the image is hosted on Mario Wiki. ~SuperHamster Talk 14:07, September 10, 2013 (EDT)
Ok, it's been uploaded. --Jake 10:38, September 14, 2013 (EDT)

My account

Hello, SuperHamster. Despite that Mario (talk | contribs | logs) and I share the same IP address, we are not the same person; I'm just a sibling of him that uses the same computer. Could you please understand that and don't block this "sockpuppet"? Baby Luigi (talk) 21:39, September 20, 2013 (EDT)

Sure thing, that won't be a problem at all :) User IP addresses aren't monitored anyway, unless something arises and there's reason for suspicion. Thanks for the heads up and welcome to the site! ~SuperHamster Talk 21:40, September 20, 2013 (EDT)
