Island
- Did you mean the island that forms when a town has a river that splits?
The Island, also known as Animal Island, is a location that first appears in Template:AF+. It later reappears in its port, Animal Crossing Template:AFe+ and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It is separate from the main town, therefore getting its own name. In Animal Forest + and Animal Crossing, a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable and a Game Boy Advance are needed to get to the island, while they are not in later appearances.
Features
Animal Crossing
The islands weather is always summer, regardless of the main town's weather. Once on the island, the player will soon discover their single island villager, who can be one of several island-exclusive villagers, and their island bungalow. The bungalow can be customized in the same way as the player's house. There is no gyroid outside the bungalow, so it is not possible to save on the island. Outside, the player will find multiple flowers and coconut trees. They can interact with the islander, catch season-exclusive fish and bugs, and take the coconuts to sell back in their own town.
The player can leave the island and return to the mainland by speaking to Kapp'n. Kapp'n will ask the player if they would like to save their island to their Game Boy Advance. If the player chooses to do so, they must set up the connection to the Game Boy Advance once more. Kapp'n will save the island to the Game Boy Advance. Once the island is loaded onto the Game Boy Advance, the player can interact with the villager on the island, helping them catch fish, eat fruits or coconuts left on the ground, or catch flying presents, all while their character returns to their home village.
The changes made to the island in the Game Boy Advance can then be uploaded back to the Nintendo GameCube the next time the player goes to visit the island. This can be a useful tactic for making Bells, as the island villagers can drop slowly increasing amounts of Bells for the player's interactions. The player can also tan when outside in sunny weather as the climate is perpetually mainland summer. However, overexposure to the sun can cause the player a sunburn. Sunburns can be prevented if the player equips an umbrella.
The island is required in order to obtain Wario's Woods and Baseball.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
The island returns as a regular feature in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, with the player once again getting there via Kapp'n. The Player arrives at the Island's Shack, run by Kapp'n's famliy, Kuko, Geko and Kuku. Here, the player can play Mini Games hosted by Tortimer, where they receive medals depending on their performance. Using these medals, the players can buy items and souvenirs from the shop on the island, which they can take back to their town. Other players visiting the town through Wi Fi can join the player on the boat ride, and partake in Mini Games with them. If no other players have accompanied them through Wi Fi, Mini Games will be played with random players online through matchmaking.
At the Shack the player can also store up to 40 items to take back with them, and sell excess items to Kuko for 5% of the regular price. The player is unable to bring anything of their own inventory with them to the island, however, a Gyroid outside the shack will provide the player with tools to use, and the player will get all their items back upon exiting the island.
Like it's last appearance, the Island always has summer weather, with summer fruit, fish, and bugs always in season. In addition to fishing and bug catching, the Gyroid provides the player with a diving suit, allowing them to dive for fish and other sea life. The player can also purchase a diving suit to use at their own town with the medals they've won.
Islanders
Each island will have one islander. In Template:AF+ and Animal Crossing, it can be one of 18. In Template:AFe+, 18 new islanders were added, making a total of 36 available.
