An online service refers to Internet provider where players can communicate to other players and receive additional online content. In the Animal Crossing series, players are provided online services that permits online play for visiting other player's towns or sharing designs or items. These online services include:
- Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, a discontinued online service for the Nintendo DS and Wii that used to provide online play for players of Wild World and City Folk.
- WiiConnect24, a discontinued online service for the Wii that distributed items and designs to City Folk players.
- Nintendo Network, an online service for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U that is used to provide online play for players of New Leaf.
- Nintendo Switch Online, an online service for the Nintendo Switch that is used to provide online play for players of New Horizons.
