− | Hey there - I'm Kevin, a staff member here on Nookipedia. Welcome to the site! :) In regards to your recent staff applications, please consider what I said in reply to your first application:
| |
− | :"Thanks for applying! We appreciate your enthusiasm, though editing experience is needed before becoming a staff member :) Try your hand at editing articles and engaging in discussions for a few weeks, and when you feel fully comfortable with editing and the know-hows of the wiki, we'd be glad to re-review your application then."
| |
− | Staff members tend to be the most experienced editors on the wiki, as the tools they receive are powerful, and many editors come to staff for help. In the end, being a staff member is no big deal - normal editors can help the wiki just as much as staff. Staff members have just a few extra tools. I recommend editing for a few weeks before considering staffship. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Again, we appreciate your ethusiasm, and welcome! Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk

− | :Hey TheVillager! - I'm Jake, another one of the staff members here at Nookipedia. I noticed that you removed votes from your staff member application as well as Kevin's comments above. While a wiki is free for all to edit and contribute, removing the discussions and comments of other users is generally frowned upon, especially on an official application. I encourage you to continue editing articles and apply for a staff position in a few weeks after you've gained more experience with our site. Thanks! :) --Jake 14:40, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

Welcome!
Welcome to Nookipedia, TheVillager!
|
We're glad you've taken the step to create an account and edit our wiki! With an account you'll now be able to easily edit pages, participate in discussions, watch pages, track your edits, and have access to additional editing tools. You can also create and edit your own user page.
If you intend to continue editing, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Read our wiki's general use and editing, and privacy policies.
- Preview your changes before saving them to avoid the need for making corrections afterwards.
- Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes instead of undoing or reinstating changes repeatedly without discussion.
- Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This code will automatically leave your name and a timestamp.
You can find editing tutorials and further information about our policies on the help pages.

Editing
Hey Villager - looking at your recent edits, here are some key points to keep in mind, outlined in our policy that you have claimed to read several times:
- Edits should not be claimed with a signature, as also pointed out by Will above (see here)
- Articles should not be written from a first person point of view, but rather, a third person encyclopedic view. Saying things like "I recommend" and "good luck!" are unencyclopedic. Take a look at other articles for examples of writing style.
- All content submitted to the wiki should be original work - that is, written in your own words. Copying and pasting from other sources is definitely not allowed. While Wikipedia's content does have a compatible license to Nookipedia, it is still advised that everything submitted be original work.
Please re-read the rules before editing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 19:38, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
- Just a question, if we were to use wikipedia content, how would we credit it? Would we do it via a reference linking to the wikipedia page? Thanks, Will1982 is awesome 19:50, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
- We actually have a template to use for that purpose, which goes at the bottom of the article: Template:Wikipedia. There are a couple of articles it's used on. Ideally, though, it is best to create original content for the sake of consistency and simplicity, among other reasons. Otherwise, yep, copied content with a compatible license could be attributed with a footnote. ~SuperHamster Talk 21:20, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Talk Page Content
Hi, Villager, I'd like to remind you again not to remove past discussions from your talk page, especially official comments; continuing to do so could result in another, longer block. Instead of taking out comments, it'd be better to take their advice and use it to improve; they really are meant to help you out. Thanks, -Sky (talk) 11:59, 18 July 2013 (EDT)
