A bridge in City Folk

Bridges are structured landmarks that cross over the river that splits the player's town. Bridges are required to cross to get to the East and West sides of the town. Most towns have two bridges to start with, but if the town has an island, another bridge will appear. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, another bridge will be built after donating 200,000 Bells to the town fund. In Animal Crossing, when the town reaches the maximum of fifteen villagers, Tortimer will randomly appear by the river and ask the player where a new bridge should be built. A wooden, roped bridge will be built the next day.

Appearances and Characteristics

Bridges can be built in different shapes, sizes, and with different materials in each game. In Animal Crossing, bridges can be built in a variety of shapes, with the most common shape being arched. These bridges can also be built out brick material or wood material.

In Animal Crossing: Wild World, bridges are now flat and made out of brick, similar to their appearance in the movie.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, bridges return to being arched-shaped and are constructed out of brick.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there is only one arched stone bridge in a town to begin with, but different style bridges, including the suspension bridge, can be built in the town as a public works project. However, the town only can have up to three bridges at a time.
