The Fortune Cookie

Fortune cookies are items that appear exclusively in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. They are purchased from Timmy and Tommy's store for two play coins, which are the currency of the Nintendo 3DS earned by gaining 100 steps with the system's internal pedometer. While Timmy and Tommy's store is in the first addition, Nookling Junction, there is one fortune cookie for sale but after expanding to T&T Mart there will be two fortune cookies for sale. Two fortune cookies is the maximum that the store can hold. When events are close by, different items (e.g. roman candle) may be sold instead of the fortune cookie(s).

When the cookie is eaten, the player receives a small fortune from the inside of the cookie. The small fortunes are available for for the player to read and trade in to Timmy and Tommy's store. Fortunes are traded for items or given to the twins. The items that the fortunes are traded for are items found in other Nintendo games.
