:Hi Sandsong - I created a new template (Template:CritterMonths) that should hopefully make it easier for editors to add months and not have to mess with HTML. I've also updated the table with Southern Hemisphere availability. I just added another row to the same cell - it's not the best, but I guess it will do for now. I don't think we can add another column as the table would start getting way too wide. One option we're looking at is adding a tab extension that would let us have separate tabs for North and South. <b>~<i><span style="color:#07517C;">Super</span></i><span style="color:#6FA23B;">Hamster</span></b> <small>Talk</small> 04:19, April 2, 2020 (EDT)

:I feel like that's something we should have a consensus to do, as I personally feel the shadow images do a much better job of representing the size than words can, as they are exactly how they appear in-game and they are to scale with each other, which makes it easy to differentiate. Additionally, there is hover text that shows the size in words when you hover the mouse over/tap and hold. As for whether there is a fin or not, the images do show the fin, although it's kind of hard to see (and the hover text shows it). Lastly, the reason why it's inconsistent with the lists for past games is that the template used for the shadow sizes is pretty new, and with all the New Horizons info we've been adding recently, we haven't gotten around to adding it to the legacy ones yet. I think that a vibration strength value should be added to each fish, as when the fish are being caught they vibrate the controller. Could range from very weak (like a Sea Butterfly) to very strong (like a Coelacanth). Werepup4 (talk) 09:11, June 21, 2023 (EDT)

Critterpedia uploads[edit]

Just a heads up that Darb has been uploading screenshots of Critterpedia entries that can be used as references. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:00, March 22, 2020 (EDT)

Southern Hemisphere[edit]

Any thoughts on making this easier to read (and contribute to) for people in the S.H.? I was thinking either making a separate row in each month cell, or dividing the months in two so it's easier to offset the months by 6 at a glance. Sandsong (talk)

Hi Sandsong - I created a new template (Template:CritterMonths) that should hopefully make it easier for editors to add months and not have to mess with HTML. I've also updated the table with Southern Hemisphere availability. I just added another row to the same cell - it's not the best, but I guess it will do for now. I don't think we can add another column as the table would start getting way too wide. One option we're looking at is adding a tab extension that would let us have separate tabs for North and South. ~SuperHamster Talk 04:19, April 2, 2020 (EDT)

Shadow Information[edit]

Do we want the shadow column to specify if you can see a fin on it? Or just strictly the size? Plant51 (talk) 01:33, April 5, 2020 (EDT)

Size and Tank columns[edit]

What will go here? Size as 1x1 or 2x1 and tank as the color, shape, or whether or not things can be placed on top of them? YanYanvvryy (talk) 17:36, May 10, 2020 (EDT)

Size is the measurement of the fish (which I don't believe is available in NH) and tank is the size when placed as furniture. See Fish/New Leaf for an example. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 21:34, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
Should we change the size column to be tank style then, or include tank style under the tank size? Some people might want to know if the fish has a special type of tank, like how a goldfish goes into a ceramic bowl - Greensleeves22 (talk) 07:53, May 26, 2020 (EDT)
I guess what could be done would be having a column with the Template:Size and another column for tank icons from the game, yeah. I'd also put it in the order I wrote so it wouldn't have back to back fish images, personally. PaviinkaPapa Bear WW Model.png(Message me!) 10:40, May 26, 2020 (EDT)
I have been collecting information on tank sizes and styles but can't edit the template for the column headers (Template:TableHeader) to change what is displayed, so I have only added the sizes I know for now and no style information. I also don't really know how to go about getting the images from in the game so if anyone can either help or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! Greensleeves22 (talk) 15:39, June 4, 2020 (EDT)
There's the Data Spreadsheet that has all the images available - you could download the tank images from there. Looks like no tank images have been uploaded here yet, so if you're going to do it, name them like "Goldfish NH Tank.png". I'm planning to obtain the tanks from the older games and name them in this way + it's consistent with fish models. I think the template may be locked because there's database being prepared, but it shouldn't be a problem editing it, whenever someone with the access is free. PaviinkaPapa Bear WW Model.png(Message me!) 16:18, June 4, 2020 (EDT)
I've gone ahead and made the changes to the template, sorry it took me so long! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 17:20, June 8, 2020 (EDT)

Price Sorting not working correctly[edit]

Clicking the top of the "price" column reorganizes the table by the first digit in a price instead of the whole price. I don't know how to fix this but the bugs table works fine. - unsigned comment from YanYanvvryy (talkcontribs)

It might have to do with the Currency being used in the table as opposed to the bug table having just a plain number. Try removing Bells and see if it sorts properly. Mario Signature.png 18:25, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
Is there a particular reason why this and the bugs page have gone back to currency/bells, which sorts alphabetically rather than numerically? I changed this page a few weeks ago to be numerical to match the bugs page, but now both are back to the other way. If it's necessary to specify that they sell for bells, that info could be provided elsewhere. I'm happy to do the replacement (again) but I don't want to if it's just going to be displaced. Isabeau (talk) 23:15, July 12, 2020 (EDT)
Ah, sorry about that! The table was recently converted to pull from Cargo (our wiki's database), which is why it went back to that incorrect sorting. I've updated the default sort for the sell column so that it will sort correctly again. Thanks for bringing it up! ~SuperHamster Talk 23:31, July 12, 2020 (EDT)

Shadow images[edit]

Can we please revert the shadow information to be words instead of pictures? It's not easy to differentiate when looking at the pictures. It's also less descriptive as there is no information on fin, and it's inconsistent with the rest of the site. - unsigned comment from 24.11.14.242 (talkcontribs)

I feel like that's something we should have a consensus to do, as I personally feel the shadow images do a much better job of representing the size than words can, as they are exactly how they appear in-game and they are to scale with each other, which makes it easy to differentiate. Additionally, there is hover text that shows the size in words when you hover the mouse over/tap and hold. Lastly, the reason why it's inconsistent with the lists for past games is that the template used for the shadow sizes is pretty new, and with all the New Horizons info we've been adding recently, we haven't gotten around to adding it to the legacy ones yet. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 22:52, July 3, 2020 (EDT)
