I should have mentioned this earlier, but during my WW/CF interior house-collecting adventures, I have noticed that villagers do have unique exteriors. This research is ongoing, but here's what I've gathered so far.

Similar to the GameCube game, villagers have shared pools of exteriors. For example, I've noticed that Bones, Drake, Kiki, Monique, and Twiggy share an identical exterior model. HOWEVER, there is an additional twist. The textures of the house are randomly chosen (from a fixed pool). These textures affect the color and shapes of the roof tiling and windows, and such, and the fixed pool of randomized textures apply to any house model. So you can have Bones and Drake sharing house model #1 with totally different house textures, and you can have Aurora, Biskit, and Curly all have different house models but sharing the "green-and-yellow checkered roof + deep green body + beige fixtures" texture. I'm still recording house exteriors, but there seem to be at least 5 or 6 different textures in the texture pool, probably more.

==Special Visitors==

'''City Folk'''<br>
I have been reading through this and am wondering if you plan to include special visitors in this project or not? Articles pertaining to special visitors have intrigued me for awhile now (almost a year, actually), and I planned to eventually start a project focused on those characters (not the basic villagers). I do not know everything you intend to do, but if I were to head a project on special characters, which would incorporate any templates and layout designs you request be used, would you be cool with making the two projects the basis of something bigger (in other words, sister projects)? --[[User:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|XXSuperXXNintendoXx]] ([[User talk:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|talk]]) 23:49, August 10, 2015 (EDT)
+
Similar to the GameCube game, villagers have shared pools of exteriors. For example, I've noticed that Rhonda and Rodeo share an identical exterior model/coloring. There are some cases where the house may look similar but actually have different colors, like in the case of Rowan and Queenie, where the houses are the same shape and mostly the same color, except they have different roof colors.

:Special visitors aren't a focus of this project, so I would definitely welcome a sister project if you wanted to focus on those pages. I would be more than happy to develop some templates for your project if needed or adapt any of the ones we're using to suit your needs. :) [[File:Sunmarshsignature.png|link=User:Sunmarsh]] '''<small><span style="font-variant:small-caps">([[User_talk:Sunmarsh|<span style="color:#7B7B7B">talk</span>]])</span></small>''' 18:47, August 11, 2015 (EDT)

'''Additional Comments'''
 +
* I think for now it's probably alright to keep the exterior fields hidden for WW/CF until enough exterior images have been collected, but the CF field should definitely be re-added back in the future (not sure about the WW field due to its uniqueness).
 +
* For WW, I do not think it's possible, at least in-game, to capture the houses at an angle where you can see the whole house without the player character being in the shot. In fact there are many tall houses where I'm unable to capture the whole house in the first place. Maybe with the slingshot(?), but I have just been refreshing the first section of the game, not finishing the tutorial, in order to collect house interiors. In any case, I've been screenshotting the house exteriors I've encountered so far, all captured at an identical angle where the character first exits the house. I'm planning to upload all of them one day in the future, maybe to Google Drive, and hope I can get someone else's assistance in using ImageMagick to crop all of them.
 +
* For CF, it is possible to capture the houses at an angle without the player character being in the shot, so that's nice. [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 20:23, December 28, 2020 (EST)

Villagers make frequent appearances on album covers of K.K. songs, although the information is typically found in the trivia sections. I think they need a better spot in the article, maybe a parameter called "album appearances"? {{User:Mario/Sig}} 16:52, August 14, 2015 (EDT)
+
The "jade" houses are closer in shade to "mint," but I figured it might be a good idea to stay away from the name mint since a villager shares the same name. Seems like a good idea, as long as Nintendo doesn't release a character name "Jade" 50 years from now. [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 06:31, January 12, 2021 (EST)

:Well, [[Template:Infobox Villager]] has an "other" parameter which is supposed to be used for appearances outside of the main series of games (e.g. {{AM}}, {{HHD}} etc.). It could also be used for album cover appearances and we could link to the KK song page? Alternatively I could potentially add it into [[Template:Villager Info]]. What do you think? Because I've been using the same save seed for collecting CF interiors, I was under the false impression that house models were always the same in a set pool. I should have been generating new save seeds to see if this was consistent beforehand, but I did not think to do that. Totally my bad. So everything I wrote about CF is not correct. However, I've been using various save seeds for WW, so that info is correct. [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 22:03, January 15, 2021 (EST)

::Sounds good. I'll work on completing the gallery of exteriors, since there are many more different textures associated with each of the 5 house models. More tentative information that I'm not entirely sure is correct: After doing a few more resets and watching some CF playthroughs, I think how it works is that each villager is associated with house model #1, #2, #3, #4, or #5, so a particular villager will always have that house model, with a randomized texture. And each town has a texture-based theme, where all houses follow a particular theme (like the current save seed I'm on has mostly pink/pastel houses, but the previous save seed had a rustic feel). This makes WW and CF similar mechanically, with the one difference being WW doesn't have the entire town follow a particular theme. [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 00:41, January 16, 2021 (EST)
 +
::More information: There seem to be 5 exterior themes: Classic, Pink, Ranch, Rustic, and Stone (non-official names). Each theme has a total of 15 exteriors, 3 colors x 5 house models. Each town will select 2 themes (I believe this is random, though the combos I've seen so far are Classic-Pink, <s>Classic-Ranch,</s> Classic-Stone, Pink-Ranch, Ranch-Rustic, Rustic-Stone, and I'm resetting to see if all combos are possible). So each town will have a total of 30 potential exteriors. And like mentioned before, each villager is associate with having either house model #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, so for example Al, Alice, Antonio, Aurora, Baabaara, Bunnie, etc. will always have house model #5. I'm almost done collecting all of the exteriors so I'll be uploading them in the style of CF Classic Exterior 1 Orange.png, which is CF [theme] Exterior [# house model] [roof color].png [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 18:22, January 21, 2021 (EST)
 +
:::I've reset some number of times, I think the only combos are Classic-Pink, Classic-Stone, Pink-Ranch, Ranch-Rustic, and Rustic-Stone, meaning that each theme has 2 compatible partners and 2 impossible partners; the impossible combos are Classic-Ranch, Classic-Rustic, Pink-Rustic, Pink-Stone, and Ranch-Stone. [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 05:15, January 23, 2021 (EST)

::Exciting news. I believe that each villager truly does have fixed exteriors. Before, I didn't understand the concept that there were 5 exterior themes and I was shocked when a single villager had 2 different exteriors. However, what I didn't realize at the time was that one exterior was from the Ranch theme while the other was from the Rustic theme. So each villager has a unique exterior from the Classic, Pink, Ranch, Rustic, and Stone theme. I'm still gathering exterior information, but it seems that villagers are truly in pools, so if you know that Bella, Dotty, and Peewee have Rustic Blue #1, then you can predict that they will also have Classic Yellow #1 and Pink Yellow #1. So theoretically all villagers have 5 specific exteriors each, 1 from each theme, in set pools, but I'll post more concrete info as I gather more exteriors. ::Well, I'm not sure if we should list album cameos alongside spinoff appearances. I think you should add it to {{t|Villager Info}} instead as it seems to be better suited to covering trivial information. Finally, thinking about a response lead me to this: what about outside-series cameos, like appearances in ''Super Smash Bros.'' and ''Mario Kart 8''? {{User:Mario/Sig}} 17:12, August 14, 2015 (EDT)

:::That's a good question... I think that they should be noted in Template:Infobox Villager using the other parameter as well as in the "Other appearances" section of the villager's article page. I know that most of the outside-series appearances are of special characters/visitors though... which is a question that perhaps [[User:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|SNES]] should answer as he expressed interest in developing special visitor pages. I think that [[Template:Villager Info]] is the best candidate for the album cover info and will put that on my to-do list. Sorry for potentially adding one more pain in the tailfeathers, but I suggest we unite all villagers under one navigational template. I suggest we organize within one giant list, alphabetized, since we can't organize by a trait without leaving out the other trait (e.g. organizing by species wouldn't take personality into account and vice-versa), and we already have such navigational aids at the top of the villager page. : I'm not sure it would really aid much in navigation, considering how long the list would be. It would probably be easier for the user to type the name in the search box. I had considered creating some sort of navigation box using the species silhouettes though. You can see a mockup of this at the bottom of [https://nookipedia.com/w/index.php?title=User:Sunmarsh/Sandbox&oldid=80026 this page]. They would each link to the appropriate species page with an extra silhouette linking the villager master list. ::I think it might be helpful to browse through multiple villagers without clicking on links or without having to type in the search bar. I think it would be a good idea to standardize personality descriptions by using a template. These sections often have variable quality for a nonunique trait, but still has, ultimately, the same information that's shared for villagers with that personality trait. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 20:20, April 12, 2016 (EDT)

:I agree with this. We should find an exemplary personality description of each type, or summarize the main article page and use that as the text for each villager of that personality type. I think a template would work great for this, something like <nowiki>{{pers|snooty}}</nowiki> for example, for [[snooty]] villagers. I was thinking that the villagers should have a template for their info in the various games in {{AMF}}. Some examples include in Desert Island Escape, where each character has a skill (wolves and tigers are lone wolves, kangaroos and koalas either move 7 or 0 spaces each turn e.t.c) and a favourite fruit ( Bud's are lemons for example). {{User:ZCJigglypuff/sig}} 05:02, June 20,2016 (EDT)

:I agree that this information needs to be mentioned on the wiki in some form, but I'm not sure the best way to display it. In my opinion it seems a bit much to place info about a mini-game from an AC spin-off title onto each villager's page. I think that we definitely need a table for the info on the mini-game's main page though and we can go from there. A lot of information on the mini-game can be found in [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bQQ9UcrpNHq8rg5hxxonoFgFP4a63O5v9cnx-FmYxvk/edit this guide].[[File:Sunmarshsignature.png|link=User:Sunmarsh]] '''<small><span style="font-variant:small-caps">([[User_talk:Sunmarsh|<span style="color:#7B7B7B">talk</span>]])</span></small>''' 17:38, June 22, 2016 (EDT)

I'd like to bring up the primary image to use for a villager (i.e. the image that appears in the villager's infobox, the birthday section of the main page, etc.). Right now, the tendency seems to be to use whatever character art is available from the latest game. However, sometimes the character art from the latest game is low resolution, cropped out of another image, or something of the sort. For example, for [[Rosie]], her HHD art is low resolution (119 × 231 pixels) and has heavily aliased borders. In cases like this I'd rather use a much higher-quality press image of Rosie from NL as her main image. I think this is important to give a clean look to the article, to the main page, to various Discord bots that use our images, and so on. Sometimes, there's just a section "6 Gallery", eg. [[Bill]] - this contains a link to a gallery page ([[Bill/Gallery]] and below is gallery with artwork from games.<br>
+
House Model #4
Other times, there's section "6 Gallery" and subsection "6.1 Artwork", eg. [[Drake]]. Under Gallery is the link to the gallery page and under artwork is the artwork, right.<br>

And then there are also pages, that follow the "Ideal Table of Contents" as writen here, eg. [[Freckles]].

My question is -why do some characters have Gallery pages and some do not?
+
Group 4-1
I thought it was that the oldest characters have Gallery pages (because they're probably having larger galleries), but that doesn't seem to be the case. (eg. [[Spike]], though he was absent from WW/CF. [[Static]] has appeared in all games, and does not have a gallery page and has quite the number of pictures on the page.)<br>
+
* Classic Orange 4
Personally I think it would be better if all character had gallery pages. Sure, sometimes, especially the new ones, have just 3 pictures in gallery so having a gallery page is probably unnecessary, but it'd look better,<small> I think</small>. I like the first example the most, I don't see the need for the "Artwork" subsection. (If the villager has a gallery page)

I was also wondering if it wouldn't look nicer if the "Sprites and Models" subsection was arranged the way that icons are next to each other and villager pics are next to each other and models are next to each other and so on. Now it's arranged by games, so Wild World icon is followed by WW picture, followed by album sprite, followed by more icons, eg. [[Lucy/Gallery]]. I think the other sections should be arranged by date, this one would just look better if it was arranged by a type... though that would ruin the consistency through subsections which might be weird?

:Well, you stated there that some galleries are too small to have their own pages. Don't want really unnecessary page visiting. Also, it does seem like a nice idea to organize by type of image, with all head icons in one spot and pics in another, there are some stragglers such as album art, mugshots, and full body sprites that don't neatly fit. I suppose you can fit those into an extra subsection that deals with miscellaneous kinds of sprites, kind of like what we already do with the artwork section. Beyond Lucy's gallery, which I checked, would that set up work for enough amount of villagers?

::Paviinka is a great addition to our roster of Wiki editing fans that want to improve villager pages ! That's a wonderful idea. In fact I did not even know Gallery subpages existed until SuperHamster told me so yesterday. We've had a good discussion about it and I do agree Gallery subpages do need some love. I really like the way you rearranged Wolfgang's gallery subpage, Paviinka. The only thing I would do is "Cards" should be it's own subsection of Artwork (most every villager have cards now), while Scenes should be thrown into "Miscellaneous" since there is not a whole lot of them that have ''scenes'' per say. Also, since we segregate 3D models from icons, and pictures, the section called ''Sprites and Models'' could be renamed ''Assets''? That's my two cents !--[[User:Ocre|Ocre]] ([[User talk:Ocre|talk]]) 19:14, March 21, 2020 (EDT)

House Model #5

Hi ! We've had a good discussion with SuperHamster and Paviinka on the Discord regarding Gallery subpages and the lack of cohenrence between them, the villagers pages, and what gallery content should be shown on villager pages. A few points were raised :

Group 5-1
* It does not seem like there are any policy laid as to what images should be shown in the gallery section of villager pages : some show Artwork only, some show Artwork + Sprites + Miscellaneous, and some show even screenshots.

* Classic Orange 5
* There is a problem regarding adding new villager pictures to Nookipedia. If you want to add them in the Villager/Gallery subpage, then you have double the work since you have to add them also on the villager's page proper.

# SuperHamster said it was possible to have a transclude script that would fetch images in the Villager/Gallery subpage and show them on the villager's page, but only those of the section Artwork. That way we wouldn't have to work twice over - we would only work on the Villager/Gallery subpage when adding in new images.

* Pink Brown 5
# Since most of the images will now be stashed away in the Villager/Gallery subpages, the link to these subpages on villager pages should be made more proheminent - SuperHamster suggested a button or a something a bit more user-friendly?

:Galleries as separate pages should be comprehensive as they need to be. If there is artwork only in a gallery, I'm guessing it's just a simple content gap or there's not enough images for a separate page anyway. Gallery pages, provided they are substantial, should be organized by artwork/sprites+models/screenshots/misc. Screenshots should be if the villager is a main focus (being talked to, inside their house), not if they're in the background.
+
* Classic Yellow 5
:Again, galleries should not be created if there is not enough artwork needed for a gallery ([[Phil]] wouldn't need a gallery, for instance, at least at revision I'm seeing). A point of a separate gallery page is to prevent the size of galleries overwhelming the main page (see [[Player/Gallery]] as an extreme example). Sometimes, it's at the editors' discretions; [[Cube]] can probably use a separate gallery page, but it's also not quite big enough to need a separate page. If we need to create a page for galleries, then the empty section that links to the gallery should have a small gallery of 3-5 images, preferably artwork.
+
* Pink Yellow 5
:Adding art in both the gallery and the main page is not a big problem. The only thing I can see it being a problem is if the gallery page is unnecessary. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 19:09, March 21, 2020 (EDT)

'''CF Starting Villagers'''<br>
 +
After resetting many times, I think there might be some restrictions on who the starting characters can be (unless this is just some sort of extremely horrible luck or a huge coincidence). Characters I have not seen on Day 1:
 +
* Superheroes: Agent S, Big Top, Kid Cat
 +
* Oriental: Cyrano, Genji, Kabuki, Marcel, Snake
 +
* Kangaroos: Astrid, Kitt, Mathilda
 +
* Monkeys: Champ, Elise, Monty, Nana, Simon, Tammi
 +
* Octopi: Marina, Octavian
 +
* Unique: Ankha, Coco, Knox, Lucky, Ribbot, Sterling, Stinky
 +
* Not Unique: Anabelle, Gigi, Pango (not sure why I haven't seen these 3 yet, will cross them out if I do encounter them)
 +

 +
I'm not sure why the game would be designed that way, I can only assume that perhaps seeing these types of villagers on Day 1 might surprise the player and that's why they are mysteriously excluded. Either way, I have never seen any of these villagers as starting characters. This would normally pose a problem, but thankfully City Folk NPC Tool exists, which allows seeing any of those interiors by editing a villager. Unfortunately, the NPC Tool does not change the house exterior to be the appropriate exterior, it just retains the exterior of the previous inhabitant, so it's not possible to know what exteriors are associated with these characters unless they move into someone's town organically. (If there is an easy way to determine the house exteriors, I'd love to know.) [[User:HylianAngel|HylianAngel]] ([[User talk:HylianAngel|talk]]) 03:36, January 24, 2021 (EST)

:I don't have an answer to how to get the exteriors, but I do know that the original game has similar restrictions on who can be a starting villager, a lot of which are similar to the ones you listed above (ostriches, kangaroos, octopuses, and anteaters as well as Kabuki, Stinky, Lucky, Ribbot, Velma, Rizzo, Coco, Genji, Snake, Tiara, and Woolio all can't be starting villagers). I'll try to find a complete list for CF, then I'll post it here. ::What's interesting is that in that list, I've seen Rizzo as a starting character. But Kabuki, Stinky, Lucky, Ribbot, Coco, Genji, and Snake not being starting characters matches up with CF (Velma, Tiara, and Woolio don't make an appearance in CF). Also in CF, ostriches can be starting characters. I wanted to make the assumption that anteaters can't be starting characters, but I've seen Antonio who is an anteater, so there shouldn't be a reason that I haven't encountered Anabelle, Cyrano, and Pango. I'm still collecting WW interiors/exteriors, but I'm noticing a trend in the type of villagers that I have never encountered as a starting character.
 +
* Anteaters: Anabelle, Antonio, Cyrano, Pango
 +
* Kangaroos: Kitt, Mathilda
 +
* Monkeys: Champ, Elise, Monty, Nana, Simon, Tammi
 +
* Octopi: Marina, Octavian
 +
* Ostriches: Gladys, Queenie
 +
* Islanders in previous titles: Bud, Drift, Caroline, Maelle, Rowan
 +
* Oriental: Genji, Kabuki, Snake
 +
* Superheroes: Agent S, Big Top, Kid Cat
 +
* Unique: Coco, Lucky, Ribbot
 +
* Not Unique (I should encounter these characters eventually): Benedict, Boone, Daisy, Elvis, Filbert, Freckles, Hugh, Jitters, Mitzi, Puddles, Rhonda, Rocco, Roscoe, Teddy, Tiffany

This is quite interesting (if the trend continues to hold true), because that means ostriches, islanders in previous titles, and Antonio can't be starting characters in WW even though they can be starting characters in CF. == I need help with Template:HHD_Info ==
 +

 +
I have two major goals: fixing up the "House" sections on each villager's page, and fixing up the "Happy Home Designer" sections to have the correct info. To put it bluntly, I'm not very good at understanding the syntax used on the House Info templates and Happy Home Designer template. Despite that, I made three major changes to [[Template:HHD Info]]:
 +
# Added a thought bubble section (been slowly populating these). It doesn't show up if there is no text, which is necessary for Goldie, Carrie, the DLC characters, and all of the special villagers who don't have a thought bubble.
 +
# So as it's known, villagers have 1-3 required items. (Or 0 in the case of the special villagers.) While very rare, some villagers, like Beardo, only have 1 required item. The template used to add a newline for some reason if a villager only had 1 item. So to fix it, I made a horribly complicated change (like a bunch of if-else's) to remove that newline. Again, I'm not very good at this.
 +
# Added pictures to be displayed next to the 1-3 required items. It's just the name of the item with "HHD Icon.png" appended to it. I think this is a nice change, because it kind of mimics what the "Client's Vision" clipboard looks like within the game itself, which also displays furniture icons next to the required items.
 +

 +
The problem that currently exists involves the third change that I made. Some villagers have furniture with non-standard names:
 +
* The item "Washer/Dryer" is named [[:File:Washer-Dryer HHD Icon.png]], which is totally sensible since it's not good to have a forward-slash in file names. [[Cally]] and [[Lobo]] have this as a required item, so it's not displaying properly.
 +
* There are two items in Happy Home Designer with identical names, [[:File:Washbasin (Hospital Set) HHD Icon.png]] and [[:File:Washbasin (Spa Theme) HHD Icon.png]]. [[Flip]] has the Washbasin from the Spa Theme as a required item, but since the name is simply written as "Washbasin," it's not displaying properly.
 +

 +
I would be very thankful if someone who is knowledgeable on editing templates could add functionality so that alternate furniture images could be specified that differ from the displayed name. It would be similar to the functionality of the House Info templates. I would do this myself if I could, but I do not know how. :Alright, so I think that I addressed the issue by adding the following parameters: <code>img1</code>, <code>img2</code>, and <code>img3</code>. You can use these to override the file name for parameters <code>item1</code>, <code>item2</code>, and <code>item3</code>, respectively. Secondly, I rewrote the code so that the line breaks <code><nowiki><br></nowiki></code> only appear if there are values entered for <code>item2</code> or <code>item3</code>, and therefore by default there is no break after <code>item1</code>. WW/CF Exteriors[edit]

I should have mentioned this earlier, but during my WW/CF interior house-collecting adventures, I have noticed that villagers do have unique exteriors. This research is ongoing, but here's what I've gathered so far.

Wild World
Similar to the GameCube game, villagers have shared pools of exteriors.

City Folk
Similar to the GameCube game, villagers have shared pools of exteriors. For example, I've noticed that Rhonda and Rodeo share an identical exterior model/coloring. There are some cases where the house may look similar but actually have different colors, like in the case of Rowan and Queenie, where the houses are the same shape and mostly the same color, except they have different roof colors.

Additional Comments

  • I think for now it's probably alright to keep the exterior fields hidden for WW/CF until enough exterior images have been collected, but the CF field should definitely be re-added back in the future (not sure about the WW field due to its uniqueness).
  • For WW, I do not think it's possible, at least in-game, to capture the houses at an angle where you can see the whole house without the player character being in the shot.
  • For CF, it is possible to capture the houses at an angle without the player character being in the shot, so that's nice. HylianAngel (talk) 20:23, December 28, 2020 (EST)

Update
For CF, I've determined that there are six colors and five house models. I plan to name them in the style:

  • CF Exterior 1 Blue.png, CF Exterior 2 Blue.png, CF Exterior 3 Blue.png, CF Exterior 4 Blue.png, CF Exterior 5 Blue.png
  • CF Exterior 1 Brown.png, CF Exterior 2 Brown.png, CF Exterior 3 Brown.png, CF Exterior 4 Brown.png, CF Exterior 5 Brown.png
  • CF Exterior 1 Green.png, CF Exterior 2 Green.png, CF Exterior 3 Green.png, CF Exterior 4 Green.png, CF Exterior 5 Green.png
  • CF Exterior 1 Jade.png, CF Exterior 2 Jade.png, CF Exterior 3 Jade.png, CF Exterior 4 Jade.png, CF Exterior 5 Jade.png
  • CF Exterior 1 Purple.png, CF Exterior 2 Purple.png, CF Exterior 3 Purple.png, CF Exterior 4 Purple.png, CF Exterior 5 Purple.png
  • CF Exterior 1 Yellow.png, CF Exterior 2 Yellow.png, CF Exterior 3 Yellow.png, CF Exterior 4 Yellow.png, CF Exterior 5 Yellow.png

The "jade" houses are closer in shade to "mint," but I figured it might be a good idea to stay away from the name mint since a villager shares the same name. Seems like a good idea, as long as Nintendo doesn't release a character name "Jade" 50 years from now. HylianAngel (talk) 06:31, January 12, 2021 (EST)

Update
Because I've been using the same save seed for collecting CF interiors, I was under the false impression that house models were always the same in a set pool. I should have been generating new save seeds to see if this was consistent beforehand, but I did not think to do that. Totally my bad. So everything I wrote about CF is not correct. However, I've been using various save seeds for WW, so that info is correct. HylianAngel (talk) 22:03, January 15, 2021 (EST)

No worries, and thank you for all your work with villager houses! At the very least, the images can be used on Villager houses in a gallery. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:29, January 16, 2021 (EST)
Sounds good. HylianAngel (talk) 00:41, January 16, 2021 (EST)
More information: There seem to be 5 exterior themes: Classic, Pink, Ranch, Rustic, and Stone (non-official names). Each theme has a total of 15 exteriors, 3 colors x 5 house models. Each town will select 2 themes (I believe this is random, though the combos I've seen so far are Classic-Pink, Classic-Ranch, Classic-Stone, Pink-Ranch, Ranch-Rustic, Rustic-Stone, and I'm resetting to see if all combos are possible). So each town will have a total of 30 potential exteriors. And like mentioned before, each villager is associate with having either house model #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, so for example Al, Alice, Antonio, Aurora, Baabaara, Bunnie, etc. will always have house model #5. I'm almost done collecting all of the exteriors so I'll be uploading them in the style of CF Classic Exterior 1 Orange.png, which is CF [theme] Exterior [# house model] [roof color].png HylianAngel (talk) 18:22, January 21, 2021 (EST)
I've reset some number of times, I think the only combos are Classic-Pink, Classic-Stone, Pink-Ranch, Ranch-Rustic, and Rustic-Stone, meaning that each theme has 2 compatible partners and 2 impossible partners; the impossible combos are Classic-Ranch, Classic-Rustic, Pink-Rustic, Pink-Stone, and Ranch-Stone. HylianAngel (talk) 05:15, January 23, 2021 (EST)
Exciting news. CF Starting Villagers
After resetting many times, I think there might be some restrictions on who the starting characters can be (unless this is just some sort of extremely horrible luck or a huge coincidence). Characters I have not seen on Day 1:

  • Superheroes: Agent S, Big Top, Kid Cat
  • Oriental: Cyrano, Genji, Kabuki, Marcel, Snake
  • Kangaroos: Astrid, Kitt, Mathilda
  • Monkeys: Champ, Elise, Monty, Nana, Simon, Tammi
  • Octopi: Marina, Octavian
  • Unique: Ankha, Coco, Knox, Lucky, Ribbot, Sterling, Stinky
  • Not Unique: Anabelle, Gigi, Pango (not sure why I haven't seen these 3 yet, will cross them out if I do encounter them)

(If there is an easy way to determine the house exteriors, I'd love to know.) HylianAngel (talk) 03:36, January 24, 2021 (EST)

I don't have an answer to how to get the exteriors, but I do know that the original game has similar restrictions on who can be a starting villager, a lot of which are similar to the ones you listed above (ostriches, kangaroos, octopuses, and anteaters as well as Kabuki, Stinky, Lucky, Ribbot, Velma, Rizzo, Coco, Genji, Snake, Tiara, and Woolio all can't be starting villagers). I'll try to find a complete list for CF, then I'll post it here. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 13:21, January 24, 2021 (EST)
What's interesting is that in that list, I've seen Rizzo as a starting character. CF Starting Villagers (Minor Rearrangement)
I'm pretty sure this is the full list of CF villagers who can't be starting characters.

  • Anteaters (except Antonio): Anabelle, Cyrano, Pango
  • Kangaroos: Astrid, Kitt, Mathilda
  • Monkeys: Champ, Elise, Monty, Nana, Simon, Tammi
  • Octopi: Marina, Octavian
  • Oriental: Genji, Kabuki, Marcel, Snake
  • Superheroes: Agent S, Big Top, Kid Cat
  • Unique: Ankha, Coco, Gigi, Knox, Lucky, Ribbot, Sterling, Stinky

WW Starting Villagers
I'm still collecting WW interiors/exteriors, but I'm noticing a trend in the type of villagers that I have never encountered as a starting character.

  • Anteaters: Anabelle, Antonio, Cyrano, Pango
  • Kangaroos: Kitt, Mathilda
  • Monkeys: Champ, Elise, Monty, Nana, Simon, Tammi
  • Octopi: Marina, Octavian
  • Ostriches: Gladys, Queenie
  • Islanders in previous titles: Bud, Drift, Caroline, Maelle, Rowan
  • Oriental: Genji, Kabuki, Snake
  • Superheroes: Agent S, Big Top, Kid Cat
  • Unique: Coco, Lucky, Ribbot
  • Not Unique (I should encounter these characters eventually): Benedict, Boone, Daisy, Elvis, Filbert, Freckles, Hugh, Jitters, Mitzi, Puddles, Rhonda, Rocco, Roscoe, Teddy, Tiffany

This is quite interesting (if the trend continues to hold true), because that means ostriches, islanders in previous titles, and Antonio can't be starting characters in WW even though they can be starting characters in CF. HylianAngel (talk) 15:31, February 17, 2021 (EST)

Trivia[edit]

Hello, I hope this is a good place to bring this minor point up. Could villager appearances on K.K. album art appear somewhere on their pages? Maybe under trivia? I also hope I did this right. Thanks. BB$5 (talk) 20:57, January 1, 2020 (CST)

I think that's a great idea, and the trivia section would be a good spot. ~SuperHamster Talk 03:34, January 2, 2021 (EST)

I need help with Template:HHD_Info[edit]

I have two major goals: fixing up the "House" sections on each villager's page, and fixing up the "Happy Home Designer" sections to have the correct info. To put it bluntly, I'm not very good at understanding the syntax used on the House Info templates and Happy Home Designer template. Despite that, I made three major changes to Template:HHD Info:

  1. Added a thought bubble section (been slowly populating these). It doesn't show up if there is no text, which is necessary for Goldie, Carrie, the DLC characters, and all of the special villagers who don't have a thought bubble.
  2. So as it's known, villagers have 1-3 required items.
  3. Added pictures to be displayed next to the 1-3 required items. It's just the name of the item with "HHD Icon.png" appended to it. I think this is a nice change, because it kind of mimics what the "Client's Vision" clipboard looks like within the game itself, which also displays furniture icons next to the required items.

The problem that currently exists involves the third change that I made. Some villagers have furniture with non-standard names:

I would be very thankful if someone who is knowledgeable on editing templates could add functionality so that alternate furniture images could be specified that differ from the displayed name. It would be similar to the functionality of the House Info templates. I would do this myself if I could, but I do not know how. HylianAngel (talk) 04:13, January 28, 2021 (EST)

Alright, so I think that I addressed the issue by adding the following parameters: img1, img2, and img3. You can use these to override the file name for parameters item1, item2, and item3, respectively. Secondly, I rewrote the code so that the line breaks <br> only appear if there are values entered for item2 or item3, and therefore by default there is no break after item1. Thank you so much, it works perfectly. I fixed the 3 pages with broken image links, and I'll be able to use it with more non-standard names as they come up. I really appreciate all of the help. HylianAngel (talk) 14:24, January 30, 2021 (EST)

Leader Application[edit]

I saw that you're looking for a leader, if you're interested then I can lead this project team? I think I'll be helpful and I'm already in the process of fixing something on a few villager pages. --Zucker2008 09:45, June 16, 2021 (BST)

We appreciate your enthusiasm, but a project leader should have already demonstrated considerable knowledge and experience editing the types of pages that the project centers around. The leader should also have a general plan, or goal in mind for what they would like to accomplish as project leader. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 23:38, July 2, 2021 (EDT)

Hello I am Template:Nookfan and I would like to be leader of project villager, I will: . add more info on villagers . add more villager pages . improve villager pages and a lot more!!! go nook!!! - unsigned comment from Nookfan (talkcontribs)

Ace Name[edit]

Hello I saw that you,red looking for the Chinese name of Ace, do you want the simple Chinese, or the traditional Chinese name? - unsigned comment from ACNHelper2435 (talkcontribs)

I think both will be helpful. Mario Signature.png 18:06, August 27, 2021 (EDT)
