Starting villagers are villagers that appear when the player moves into their town (island in New Horizons). The starting villagers roster varies between different Animal Crossing games.

In Animal Crossing

In Animal Crossing, the game starts with six villager on the town. An initial town will always have a jock, lazy, cranky, normal, peppy, and snooty villager, with further villagers being added to a maximum of 15 villagers.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the game starts with two villagers on the island. They can either have a jock or big sister personality. The next three villagers that can move onto the island will have peppy, normal, and lazy personalities.
