Hey there! Welcome to Nookipedia (again), and great job so far! Just a quick tip that when signing comments on talk pages, use four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>). This places both your username and a timestamp on the page. Feel free to ask me or any other staff members for any more help (or consider posting at the [[Nookipedia talk:Community Fountain|Community Fountain]] to get help from the general community). Usually, in a section title, the only letters you should capitalize are the first one and proper nouns.

I'm not sure if it's necessary to create pages on ''every'' group of furniture. I think it's better to create articles of groups of furniture. As for uncategorized items, we can put them in a very decentralized "theme" article, although that would be very time consuming.

If you have access to the e-guide of the game (look it up in the official site; sign in, register, and input a code if you need to; the code is found somewhere in the middle of the book), there's no need to scan the page. Just browse through the guide, right click on the image, and save the image to upload it here. Easy, but time-consuming.

Thanks for asking! I hope I helped. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 19:40, July 14, 2014 (EDT)

::Thanks for the reply. I was actually referring to items from the first {{PG}} game, not ACNL. I also have the guide to {{WW}} and {{CF}} so I could scan those guides for item images as well. --[[User:Sunmarsh|sunmarsh]] ([[User talk:Sunmarsh|talk]])

:::Oh, gotcha. Does Prima have e-guides for Wild World and City Folk? It would spare you a lot of scanning if they did. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 19:52, July 14, 2014 (EDT)

::::I don't believe that they started e-guides until after the guide for City Folk was published, so no. Besides, e-guides weren't as widely used back then as they are now? Come to think of it, did Prima even have a guide for Wild World. I have the Nintendo Power guide for Wild World, not Prima. --[[User:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|XXSuperXXNintendoXx]] ([[User talk:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|talk]]) 02:38, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

:::::Hm, maybe you're right. I guess scans would have to do, but if you're able to obtain screenshots from, say, an emulator, the more the better. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 16:19, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

== Multiple Edits ==

Hello! I noticed you've been making a lot of edits to the same page over a short time. Doing this puts a large strain on our server and clogs up the recent changes. So instead of saving a lot, use the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button. It'll allow you to view your edit for any mistakes so you don't have to make a lot of fixing edits or additional ones! Additionally, it will help to reduce the workload of the staff who have to patrol each and every edit. Thanks! :) --[[User:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|XXSuperXXNintendoXx]] ([[User talk:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|talk]]) 16:33, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

:Sorry about that! I didn't realize that the Sandbox page was viewable to everyone... although I'm sure that's not the only page where I've been guilty of this. ^^; I'll do my best to keep the edit count to a minimum. --[[User:Sunmarsh|sunmarsh]] ([[User talk:Sunmarsh|talk]]) 16:40, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

:::I'll support the nomination, that's for sure. {{User:Mario/Sig}} 15:03, July 31, 2014 (EDT)

::::I would definitely support the nomination too, as you've shown through your edits and past projects that you have a vast knowledge on the technical aspects of the series, which is something the majority of players know nothing about. --[[User:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|XXSuperXXNintendoXx]] ([[User talk:XXSuperXXNintendoXx|talk]]) 15:39, July 31, 2014 (EDT)

::Awesome! Thank you everyone for your support & positive feedback. :) Is there a page somewhere that lists Patroller responsibilities more in-depth (other than Nookipedia:Patrollers)? Perhaps with guidelines/suggestions on when it's appropriate to use patroller-specific abilities? --[[User:Sunmarsh|sunmarsh]] ([[User talk:Sunmarsh|talk]]) 15:55, August 7, 2014 (EDT)

:::Hrmm...not that I know of. But to give a quick run-down, the two biggest tools you have are deleting and protecting pages. You can delete pages that obviously shouldn't exist (e.g. files that will never be used, new articles that aren't about anything significant, etc.). Any other page should still go through the normal discussions before deleting. As for protecting pages, that's typically done if a page is repeatedly being vandalized, or a template is widely used across the site.

:::So yep...basically, just use your best judgement :) Being voted in for staff means we trust your judgement. But feel free to ask any questions at any time! <b>~<i>[[User:SuperHamster|<font color="#07517C">Super</font>]]</i>[[User:SuperHamster|<font color="#6FA23B">Hamster</font>]]</b> <small>[[User talk:SuperHamster|Talk]]</small> 22:36, August 7, 2014 (EDT)

:::::You can always post any questions you may have on the Staff Forum or send either (or both of us) a PM. And remember, there isn't a single mistake you can make that can't be undone, so don't be afraid to use your new permissions as you see fit. As SuperHamster said, we trust your judgement with this. --[[User:Jake|<span style="color:#008000;font-weight:bold;">Ja</span>]][[User_talk:Jake|<span style="color:#E58900;font-weight:bold;">ke</span>]] 13:38, August 8, 2014 (EDT)

:Yes, if you look on the Project Furniture page, there are lists of Series, Themes, Sets etc. that need work (purple and grey boxes). To get an idea of what the final result should look like, take a look at the already completed pages in the green boxes (clicking the edit button on one of those pages to see the wikitext/templates used may be helpful). Remember to conform to Nookipedia guidelines in regard to item capitalization ([[Nookipedia:Policy#10:_Capitalizing|see here]]). --[[User:Sunmarsh|sunmarsh]] ([[User talk:Sunmarsh|talk]]) 13:25, October 3, 2014 (EDT)

Yeah, we could do with a collaboration of some sort, because some of our projects are of incomprehensible scale and working as a team makes things more efficient. But I don't know if a chatroom would work. I may be online earlier than you. However, I am quite interested in reviving the other projects (like Project Furniture was), and utilizing the talk pages and forum for some of our discussions. I'll wait for more input on this, and thanks for bringing this up (the workload on me was rather large so I've took a slight break). <big>[[User:Red Snapper|<span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;color:darkred">Red</span>]] [[User talk:Red Snapper|<span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;color:red">Snapper</span>]]</big> 14:31, October 6, 2014 (EDT)

Hey sunmarsh, how do you change your signature to look cooler like yours?--[[User:567koala|Marcus]] ([[User talk:567koala|talk]]) 21:21, October 7, 2014 (EDT)

:Navigate to your [[Special:Preferences|Preferences]] page. In the Signature section, check the box "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)". My name is actually an image that I created. You can use wikitext to change font color and size, however the signature field only allows a certain amount of characters, so to get the effect I wanted I applied the font, color and size I wanted in a text editor, took a screenshot, and then uploaded the text as an image which I link to in my signature.

:The wikitext for my signature is: <nowiki>[[File:Sunmarshsignature.png|link=User:Sunmarsh]] '''<small><span style="font-variant:small-caps">([[User_talk:Sunmarsh|<span style="color:#7B7B7B">talk</span>]])</span></small>'''</nowiki>

Animal Crossing furniture showrooms[edit]

I was looking at your furniture series showrooms for Animal Crossing, and I was wondering, how did you remove the player character? Did you take 2 screenshots and stitch them together, or did you use some sort of game modification in order to remove the player character or maybe move the camera? I'm curious because I've been taking a few screenshots myself and I might want to potentially use that technique. HylianAngel (talk) 22:30, September 30, 2022 (EDT)

My apologies for the abysmally slow reply, but I achieved that by taking two screenshots, each with my character in a different space in the room, but without the camera moving. If you have an editing program with layers, you would just line the images up exactly, in separate layers one on top of the other, then delete the character from the top layer and the room will now appear empty. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 12:34, February 16, 2023 (EST)
Thank you for explaining! I'm not totally against splicing, since the image results are great. My only fear is that it introduces some complications with always obtaining the same room angle, and also it introduces room for human error compared to just a normal screenshot. For example, one splicing job I noticed by another person mistakenly left a piece of the HUD with the faded camera notification in the lower-right, and one splicing job I did myself I didn't notice had a minor alignment error until like a year later. If I do end up using that method, I'll just have to take more care when doing the actual splicing. Anyways, thanks again! HylianAngel (talk) 15:26, February 16, 2023 (EST)
